Texas RB gets busted with 5lbs of weed
looks like texas has ricky williams jr.team

it's bad enough they lose vince young to the NFL, but it looks like it's only going to get worse for the texas football program.

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) -- Texas running back Ramonce Taylor, who scored a touchdown in the Longhorns' Rose Bowl win over Southern California, was arrested Sunday by sheriff's deputies who said they found about 5 pounds of marijuana in a backpack in his car.

Deputies also found a live 40-caliber round of ammunition in the console of the vehicle, Sheriff Dan Smith said.

Bell County prosecutors charged the 20-year-old Taylor with state jail felony drug possession of marijuana, pending lab results to determine the total weight of the drug, the sheriff's office said.

If it weighs more than five pounds, the charge will be upgraded to a second-degree felony punishable by two to 20 years in jail and $10,000 in fines. A state jail felony carries up to two years in jail and a $10,000 fine.

Taylor was in the Bell County Jail and will be arraigned Monday. It was not immediately clear if he had a lawyer.

Taylor had been excused from spring practice in March to focus on academics and had not participated in any team functions since, Longhorns coach Mack Brown said.

"We are aware of this recent situation and will follow it as the legal system runs its course. At this time, we will not consider reinstating him to the team," Brown said.

According to the arrest report, deputies responded to a report of a large fight involving as many as 100 people at a pecan farm in Little River, a community about 40 miles from Austin. Deputies also said they received a call from someone who had been at the fight and complained that a window on his vehicle had been broken. That caller turned out to be Taylor.

While interviewing Taylor at a convenience store, deputies were told by other officers at the fight scene that Taylor had been involved and had threatened to return with a gun. Taylor was placed in handcuffs.

Taylor told deputies he didn't have a gun and gave them permission to search his vehicle. Deputies reported finding the bullet and the backpack with the marijuana.

One of Texas' most versatile players, Taylor scored 15 touchdowns last season, including a 30-yard scoring run in the Rose Bowl, which Texas won 41-38. The win gave Texas its first outright national championship since 1969.

trunk of his car is a hand cannon and 5lbs of weed?

He deserved what happened to him, that is one of
the stupidest things I have ever heard.

Roamance was a straight up thug. Here are some other things that have happened in Austin and elsewhere in Texas that you may not have read about.

Kwame Cavil and Aaron Humphrey among 4 kicked off the team for toking at the Cotton Bowl hotel. 2000 (not arrested)

Brock Edwards convicted of assault where the victim required facial reconstruction surgery. Edwards remained on the team. 2002

Benson arrested on posession and paraphenelia charges, 2002. Charges were dropped, and Benson remained on the team.

Larry Dibbles, Aaron Harris, Edorian McCullough and Selvin Young arrested for possession, 2003 The charges dropped after DA says illegal search and seizure, but players remained on the team.

Cedric Benson breaking and entering for his plasma, 2003. He was convicted, but remained on the team.

Matt Nordgren and Cedric Griffin assault and criminal mischief, 2003. They were convicted, but remained on the team.

Aaron Harris gets into a fight on 6th and gets breaking his jaw. Arrested along with Kaelen Jakes, 2003. Players remained on the team.

Erik Hardeman arrested for dealing in 2004. The trial is pending, and Hardeman is no longer on the team.

Ramonce Taylor, Cedric Griffin, and two other players investigated for aggravated robbery this December. Investigation underway, but both players play vs. USC in the Rose Bowl.

That's 9 incidents involving 12 players (including a couple multiple-offendors) in 6 years. Congratulations to Mack Brown to winning his first-ever conference championship in 20+ years as a head coach. Who cares if he has to play part-time warden?

Similiar to Boy George calling police to his appt after his male escort date attempted to shake him down for all of his cash. Several grams of Coke left out in the open....

Now that he doesn't have football interfering, he can go to full time drug dealer.

These people are so damn stupid. he played on a good team as a true freashman. In 3 years, he probably would have been a 1st or 2nd round pick becoming an instant millionairer.

I'm not one to preach because drugs are not nearly as bad for youas people try to make them out to be. I've experimented a little. Thats the key word, little.

Nothing wrong with a kid being a kid and on Saturday night, having some skanks over and doing some lines till 5 in the morning while getting drunk. Thats good. clean fun that is needed for young men.

But to drive around with enough weed that could nail youa "intent to distribute" charge plus carring a gun is just stupid. Doesn't surprise me at all. What a fuken moron.

These homeboys always have to carry guns. Why? To look tough. Nothing good could ever come of a 19 year-old most likely popular in a college town needing a gun. It shouldn't be for self defense purposes. it's for thug purposes and this country is litterd with homeboys that are obsessed with being gangsters.

I guess thats what happens when mom gets knocked up at 16 years of age.

He was already half way off the team so who knows. mack has officially released him from the team.

From my understanding, he has not been in the good graces of mack Brown for awhile and thia doesn't help.

Of course, the tell tale sign if he plays at UT again or not is how deep they are at running back. I think Selvin Young may be gone, either that or a 9th year senior it seems like, but Jamaal Charles is back and I'n sure they'll have some 5 star freshamn RB coming in.

                    great one,

to correct you, as I will do many times this year with college football, Selvin Young is back this year...he has yet to show his form from two years ago due to many nagging injuries...Charles proved to be the best of the pack by the end of the year, which is why I think they'll give him another shot...Texas will definitely be deep at RB, but this guy will be missed if he doesn't make it back on the field...
