Nova is due for a statistical correction. I don't believe he allowed a homer last year with men on base. The Yankees will probably have to watch his and Pineda's innings this year. It's not like Kuroda is bad, but he's 37 so who knows what you'll get in the 2nd half. Their staff is plenty good to win them plenty of games in the regular season, he's right in that they need another horse or one of the young guys to step up for the playoffs.

Pineda fell off the face of the Earth towards season end. Only throws two pitches, and played majority of games @Safeco.

Even trade IMO. Typical Yankee fan overreation. Thinking they are smarter than everyone else, but realy they just spend significantly more money.

Zduriencik added that Montero has "a ton to prove," while manager Lloyd McClendon said the first baseman is "at a crossroads." Montero's future was already looking murky before this spring, as he's struggled since joining the M's, has been moved off of catcher and last year got popped with a 50-game suspension for his involvement with the Biogenesis scandal. He'll begin the season in the minors and obviously has a lot of ground to make up before he becomes relevant again.

Probably a better chance of Pineda becoming a legitimate contributor than Montero at this point.

Obviously it's been a huge bust thus far, as both of the guys have either sucked (Montero), been injured (Pineda), or suspended (Montero).
