mans sues Angels over not getting a mothers day promo
sounds like something the prick would do.

SANTA ANA, Calif. -- A man who was denied a red nylon tote bag during a Mother's Day promotion at an Angels baseball game has filed a sex and age discrimination lawsuit against the team.

The class action claim filed by Michael Cohn, a Los Angeles psychologist, alleges that thousands of males and fans under age 18 are entitled to $4,000 in damages each because they were treated unequally at last May's promotion. Women over 18 received the gifts.

Angel officials said Cohn was the only person who complained about the giveaway and that the team is proud of its promotions.

"Historically, we have tried to appeal on those special days that might be nationally noted holidays or special occasions," team spokesman Tim Mead said, adding he could not comment directly on the suit because he hadn't seen it. "We have tailored programs or giveaways accordingly."

The team responded to a complaint letter that Cohn wrote last June by sending him four tote bags and a letter stating the team "ran out of the item that day and had to order more."

"They claimed they didn't have any more bags, but my client said there was a mountain of bags stacked so high a show dog couldn't have jumped over them," said Alfred Rava, Cohn's San Diego-based attorney.

Cohn could not be reached for comment.

This weekend's Mother's Day promotion will offer tote bags to the first 25,000 fans over age 18, rather than cater specifically to women. Mead would not say whether the change was in response to Cohn's complaint.

Rava said the altered promotion still violates the civil rights of fans under age 18.

Cohn's suit names as defendants the Angels and the Corinthian Colleges, which sponsored the event through an affiliate.

If this isn't laughed out of court, I will lose what little remaining respect I have for the human race.

lawyers take cases like this all the time.....it increases name recognition/familiarity which in turn increases business. I bet there were 100s of lawyers in the area who probably wanted this case....you think lawyers want traffic violation cases???

Anyway...this has some legal merit to it albeit it's not the most pressing issue of our day. I remember there have been lots of cases over the years that deal with this type of seemingly harmless inequality.

For example, I know most of you guys don't get out much here, but there have been similar cases that challenge the legality of when going to bar how come guys may have to pay a cover charge and women get in for free??? Have you ever been to a bar where guys get in free and women have to pay a cover charge? I can't quite remember the outcome but these cases seem absurd to most of you guys b/c let's face it most of you guys are not the sharpest tools in the shed but they are really not....so there is legal precedence and I would be interested to see how it ends up.

The guy is a psychologist too. Maybe he needs to sit down and have a 1 hour session with himself.

Thanks so much for your input.

I'm sure there is precedence. But, you see, just because something has happened before doesn't mean it's justified, or should continue to happen.

That is pretty funny, but I too think this case may make it to court and it is pretty stupid that it will but we live in that kind of culture nowadays

Maybe the Angels should offer this guy a pink bat (up side the head) that some of the players will be using this Sunday

why shouldn't it happen.....any particular reason why this guy does not have a right to challenge the status quo?

He should have the right to.

The particular battle he's chosen is ludicrous.

What should happen is that the judge rules in favour of this guy and forces the Angels to give him the red nylon tote bag that he's crying over. And then make this twat pay the costs for both sides.

If I were the judge I'd give him ten packs of tampons to stuff up his arse, and 1000 hours of 'community service'. In drag... in the bad part of town.

Once again, if I was running the country, these precious tax dollars would not be wasted.

For example, I'd be on the Forbes 400 for all the money this country would save annually if we just kill death row inmates and those who have life sentences immediately. Florida death row inmates themselves cost over 10 million dollars annually just to house. i think it's annual last time I checked. This is off-topic, but if this country would just do what i tell it to, these worlds problems will be solved. I swear by it. Not a doubt in my mind.
