This happened on Friday and so is not exactly fresh news but I thought it bore posting. Here's the summary:
NEW YORK - Steve Howe, the relief pitcher whose promising career was derailed by cocaine and alcohol abuse, died Friday when his pickup truck rolled over in Coachella, Calif. He was 48.
And as I read the full story, another line jumps out at me dealing with the first question that crossed my mind (and I'm sure I'm not the only one).
Toxicology tests had not yet been performed.
It's a shame that someone dies and that's all I can think.
What can I say? RIP.
