Betroyal you are screwing with the wrong guy
    Doug at Betroyal,

I know you are a good guy. I don't know who your current linesman is at betbg, but if its the same guy you had a couple of years ago, he's one of the most honoarable linesmen around.

So I'm going to asusme for now you don't know what happened, but I want you to look at my account. I wnat you to listen to the tapes of me placing the wagers. And then i want you to listen to how your "CS" staff handled the situation.

Then give me a call. I am mad. I am very very mad. And I think when you look at the lines and listen to the tapes you will agree with me.

If you screw around with skanks then you're going to catch something. You might get HIV, you might get a bad dose of herpes but you can be sure that you're going to pick up something at some point in time.

I placed a wager with Royal. They later cancelled the wager due to it being a bad line. I recieved no notification of the cancellation. Pluse their web site has been down for the past hour. But after reading about the guy from Nine.com, I just wanted to call and double check I had action.

Clerk tells me she can find no record of my wager. So Itell her I placed the wager over the phone. She tells me I can file a claim, but it will take 24-48 hours to resolve. I said the game is going off in half an hour, i want to know before the game whether i have action.

The clerk said well right now the line is +190. (I had gotten +235) So I said fine, I'll bet a dime on the +190. And then you can check the tapes and if I'm right you can just give me a price adjustment.

Clerk said can't do that. If I place the bet and the claim, and it turns out the wager at +235 was good, then I would have 2k on the game. I said that's carzy. The most reasobale thing would be, just confirm 1k on the game, and we can argue about price later if my team wins. So the clerk gets a manager on the phone. Manager says the line was bad. so they cancellled the wager. SO I asked why they didn't try to tell me, after all the site is down, and when I was able to log in, there no note. She says they sent an email, oddly I still haven't recieved it. Now she tells me the line has dropped to +180. WHiile I was on the pohone the line dropped anohter 10 cents. MEanwhile the rest of the world is still +190 and pinnacle is +200. So I said pinn is +200 and she said they are +180. At whihc point I said goodbye, and placed the wager at Pinn

There are a few things at play here. 1) I don't think the line was "bad enough" that it should have been cancelled. a +235 line when most books are at -230 on the other side, is not uncommon for royal.
        2) If you cancel a wager you need to make the player aware
        3) what really makes me mad and what makes no sense is Royal's refusal to let me place a wager at the current line, and dispute the price later.

All I wanted was to know before the game that I had action on the game and the right to argue about whether the wager at +235 should have been cancelled. And CzS woldn't give that to me. And now instead of Royal getting the action, pinn got it.

              Marc,

Royal put $100 in your account to compensate for the loss in price value.

                BAUS,

                You nailed it.

                Bill,

thanks for speaking to Royal for me.

                Doug,

                Thanks for listening.

I'm not looking to take a shot at Royal. But a half hour before game time, if your line maager isn't available to to get on the phone, there needs to be away to resolve disputes like this. If someone has a better solution than mine, of simply betting on the current line and arguing over price later, please let me know.

Here is one quick story about how Doug ran Betbg.
2 years ago a friend of mine placed awager at betbg. As he enters his passowrd he gets the "attention line has changed." Line only changed a few cents. So my firned takes the new line. A little bit later my firend logs into his account and there is a messgae from the lines manager. it says "sorry about the line change, I menat to change it after you confirmed your wager not before, I've adjusted the line back to the original price." Basically betbg gave my friend back the few cents he wasn't expecting. Ever since I heard that I always held Doug, Betbg, and his line manager in high regard

Good post Marc. It was good that you took the extra steps to check your pendings.

This was not an obvious gross error but I like the way Royal resolved it. A lot of books will tell you to get lost if they catch the "bad line" before the game starts. If a book wants to remove a pending bet thats not obviously bad, the right thing to do is comp the player with the difference of the average price. Scalpers may still get burned but the bettor who worked for the best line gets what he deserves.

The final resolution was very fair and was as much as anyone could hope for.

I don't begrudge Royal the right to cancel a line they feel is bad. I think this was a case where cs fumbled the ball. But I'am happy at how fats they rectified the situation

                      Marc,

way to nail this a-holes...if you don't have anymore rollover requirements left, I'd get the hell out of there...

                        Pags,

Actually I had stopped wagering there and was getting my 5k a week payout. But when someone pointed out that line to me, I figured why not.

In fairness to Royal, I would say thier cs staff is probably not much worse than other books. At the end of the day, almost every cusomter walks away satisfied with the resolution. The unfortunate thing, and what they really need to address, is that players feel the only way to get the attention of people who could help them is by posting.

seems to me royal ALWAYS handles these issues, and is responsive to bill,s inquiry.can we say the same about sbg(another complaint pending).we know the rules about bad lines, and often the issues are murkier than posted.i,m glad a senior poster was taken care of here but i also like to speak up for royal because imo they are very solid.yes,no arguing about owners past, but he obviously doesnt want to run royal into the ground or he would have done it already.also, why is marc playing there if they are so bad-answer=good bonuses, soft lines, overnight lines

                              Jumper,

It's clear Royal is no Score. SInce Tej has been at Royal players have won in the 6 figures and have been able to withdraw thier wiings. PLayers may not have been able to withdraw as fast as they wanted, but the all eventually got paid. My guess is that the owners of Royal ultimately hope to take the book public. That's probably a good part of the reason they were interested in buying cascade and ultimaely brought on Doug from Betbg
