The NHL system of tiebreaking sucks huge ass
If one team wins in regulation time they get 2 points and the other team gets 0. That part is perfect.

    :thumbs_up

But if there is a tie at the end of regulation, both teams automatically get a point and overtime is played to award an extra point.

    Winner gets 2 points - :thumbs_up

Loser gets 1 point ----> I say, "Fvck no!"

Nevermind the stupid extra column they need in their standings to explain why a team can be 0 and 5 but still have 5 points, it just seems so wimpy and indecisive.

I say if you lose, you get nothing. Too effing bad. Go work on your 4 on 4 hockey and your shootouts.

    That is all.

it wasn't a new rule this year they've had it for a couple of years now that you automatically get a point for going to over time even if you lose.. The idea behind it is that teams before this rule were laying back and trying not to lose.. Now it's more wide open in overtime with nothing to lose and something to gain if you win...
I myself as a life long hockey fan, also a WILD season ticket holder and someone who grew up playing the sport love alot of the new rules.. The game is so much faster..

You're right, and I think that when ties were a possibility, it worked out that way.

However, now that a tie is no longer availible, that should be enough to pursuade a team to take chances and go for the win, and the point for a loss should be erradicated.
