Football Players are not Known for Their Intelligence
...but does that mean the NFL has to continuously shoot itself in the foot every time a labor agreement needs to be resolved?

The NFL has ratings that every other professional sport would like to be able to imagine having, yet it seems they want to throw that all away over a few percentage points of revenue. Look at what the NHL recently went through. Look at what MLB went through prior to that. Look at what the NFL went through prior to that. In the cases of NHL and MLB, the franchises were bleeding money so an overhaul was necessary. The NFL is not in the same predicament so it's very hard for me to see through the eyes of the owners in this situation. Come on Owners, the Players are supposed to be the stupid ones.

I really side with the players on this one.

The NFL is the most profitable enterprise in American sports, and the players have been jobbed (often by the ineptitude of their union) for the past decade plus.

Common sense tells me they work this out. I can't see any possibility of them allowing their dominance to implode.
