I think this bill will meet stiff opposition...I guarantee their are senators that have online accounts...guarantee it...

i agree...wasn't there a post not too long ago about Wayne Root being invited to the White House for Haunika dinner? I mean they all know he sells picks for a living...they all know that bets are increasingly being placed online...maybe we do need Wayne Root in Congress

I am just glad poker is included, that could get a lot of voters against the bill and that group is a bit more organized and willing to spend money on lobbying.

This bill doesn't have a chance in hell of being passed. These old folks are so out of touch.

            Hope you're right.

Moving to Mexico would be a hassle.

Figures, I finally land a job in an industry I love and the idiots in DC are trying to screw me

Oops, sorry for the redundancy using 'idiots' and 'DC' in the same sentence.

These kind of bills are started by some senator that lost his ass gambling so he wants to take it away from everyone. These kind of people should just be executed on sight anyway. It's kind of like the supposed "dru8g war" yet I get between 5 and 10 phone calls a day on my phone from these internet pharmacies wanting to sell me presciption meds.

This bill is just another way for America to show how truly weak and flat out stupid the 67 year-old fools that try to run a country really are.

When 100 Republican Reps get behind a useless initiative, you can be sure that someone is footing the bill. Big time. Question is who? Is Nevada trying to cut down internet gambling?

Btw, Tradesports should remain open for business. Trading ain't gambling, and if it is, Wall Street has a problem.

All we'll have to do to find out is watch who lobbies for the bill. I actually hope they manage to get the bill passed, because it won't stop me from playing either way, and I don't want to pay for the passed through overhead items if it's "legalized" and the government starts taking its piece.

I wouldn't put it past those Republican pigs to be engaged in a bidding war between Nevada on one side and the offshore industry on the other.

Wasn't a previous bill mysteriously stopped in its tracks at the very last moment? If so, that could be an auction technique to prevent a counter offer.

                                    Just a thought.

I was about to put money into 2 or 3 books and all of a sudden I see this fcking act in Congress being talked about. So what should I do, wait to see what happens first? How long is this thing supposed to take? I don't want these offshores to go out of business with my money. How safe is my money in Neteller if they are not allowed to deposit into offshores? Thanks for any feedback.

                                        tink,
Just keep coming by. This bill has a looooong way to go. It has not passed a single vote yet. It needs to be voted through a conference and maybe more than one, put on the docket in the house and voted on...same thing in Senate and sent to the President. It could then end up tied up in the courts for a long time.

So it could take anywhere from 10 months to 12 years if it even makes it. The last efforts to pass such a law failed in the House and was never even considered in the Senate where most pundits give it little chance of passing.
