Each had to pay a $300 fine and were put on probation for six months

Illegal Gambling Operation Busted
Jan 03, 2006
Cops shut down an illegal gambling operation in San Benito. San Benito police raided the Diamond C Private Social Club in San Benito late last night. People hang out at the club to play Texas Hold 'Em.
The house was actually making money off the poker game. But that type of gambling is illegal in Texas. Cops arrested 14 card players, the club owner, and two card dealers in the raid. Each of the players were charged with illegal gambling and accepted a plea deal.
Each had to pay a $300 fine and were put on probation for six months. The owners and dealers face more serious charges of gambling promotion and keeping a gambling place. If convicted, they could face up to a year in jail and a $4,000 fine.
