I went back and read up on my Denver Nuggets history. Will admit that I didn't know some of this:

*In 1967 the Denver ROCKETS joined the ABA.
*Coincidentally, the San Diego ROCKETS joined the NBA in the same year (1967).
*In 1975 the Nuggets had the best record in the league but lost to the Pacers in the playoffs.
*In 1976 the Nuggets again had the best record in the league. They had 3 of the top 10 players in the league: David Thompson, Bobby Jones and Dan Issel.
*In 1976 the Nuggets lost to Dr J's Nets in the ABA Finals.

Small technicality: The ABA was eroding in 1976, they didn't technically have Conferences. So, the Nuggets didn't win the West in 1976...and the Nuggets have technically never won a Conference Championship.

If you believe the info in the documentaries, Dr J's dominance that shone in 1976 triggered the ABA/NBA merger. The merger gave basketball a chance to display Dr J on a bigger stage.

Nate, I think it's a good pick. My two cents:

*Denver gets overlooked. They haven't done it b4. Gunning for 1st title in franchise history, ABA or NBA.
*Lakers get a chance here. Are the LAKERS more name than substance?
*If the Celtics win on Sunday, Celts/Nuggs would be a good final. If Celtics somehow LOSE on Sunday...then the path is clear for the Nuggs.

This is an easy fade on the Lakers. Lakers have no chance in this series. The only reason why they beat the Warriors is because Draymond Green working as double agent for his buddy LeBron and clutch sports management. If you don't believe me go watch the end of game four. green is throwing the ball out of bounds left and right. Draymond Green is going to be a Laker next year.
