The owners should simply wait the players out this year, next year and thereafter; sooner or later, the players will miss those seven figures and will realize it beats selling cars or sweeping floors.

Capping whirlwind day, MLB urges players to report by July 1. No matter how poorly Rob Manfred has performed, no matter how much blame fans and media have laid on owners for this interminable stalemate, it’s on players to move the boulder forward now.

They'll file a grievance or claim health & safety issues.

Actually shocked owners proceeding w 48 games given they will lose money....maybe it's a bluff?

All of the players across sports who don't want to play need to STFU.

Stop whining and stay home if you're not up to it.

This will be an opportunity for the minor league players to step up. Let all the "primadonna players" stay at home. Then see what happens this winter to all the free agents

Major League Baseball finally has a plan in place for the 2020 season. On Tuesday, the players union first agreed to a July 1 report date for Spring Training 2.0 as MLB seeks to begin a coronavirus-shortened 2020 season, according to various reports.

ESPN’s Jeff Passan also reports the sides have reached an agreement on health and safety protocols for the 60-game season imposed by commissioner Rob Manfred on Monday. MLB had given the players union 24 hours to OK the so-called “operating manual” for 2020, which includes details on how the league plans to combat coronavirus spread. The sides went beyond the deadline, but finally came to agreement after months of stalemates.

Agreeing to the health and safety protocols proved tougher than a report date since the world at large is still trying to figure that out and things are changing on a daily basis. However, Jon Heyman of MLB Network reported there were no major hold ups, which allowed an agreement to be reached Tuesday night.

The commissioner-imposed season comes after the players union and owners couldn’t find common ground in a long back-and-forth of negotiations. The players ultimately rejected the final offer from owners, knowing that Manfred would institute a season of his liking.
While money was the sticking point in negotiations, recent events have proven that baseball has more to worry about in its return. Last week, MLB closed all 30 spring training sites as reports of positive coronavirus tests among players and staff members totaled 40 people league-wide in a week.
The Athletic’s Jayson Stark also reported a string of roster-related rules and important dates for fans to keep in mind.

    1) Manfred must go.
    His ideas are beyond ludicrous.
    They make no sense.'

    2) In a 60 game season teams that have a strong front three rotation starters will dominate.
Pay attention to teams with ace starters that eat up innings.
Nats for instance, you can work Max, Stras, Corbin every fifth day in a sprint like 60 game season.
You can work your horses in a short season, you can't send out your studs every fifth day in a full 162 game schedule.

Long story short if you got starting pitching your'e in the hunt, if you don't you won't compete.
Pitching wins, always has, always will.

Here's a list of last season innings eaters.
I moved some of the key free agents to their 2020 teams.
The Phils may challenge the Nats now with a dependable Wheeler in the three spot of the rotation.
Teams like my Royals will get buried because their staff ace (Keller or Junis) will get shelled.

Did you guys see some of the rules they are implementing? DHs in every game (national and american league) and extra inning games will begin with a runner already on 2nd base. No fans at any of the ballparks.

    Stupid.

I ain't going to watch or bet on any of this garbage
