What they should have done on March 13 was said beginning March 16 you will stay at home for 2 weeks -- no stores no nothing. Give everyone 3 days to get everything they could possibly need for 2 weeks.

Obviously not nurses, cops, etc. Everyone else though, yes. I agree 3 day window for people to prepare is acceptable. At this point you should have 30-90 days of food. Those that don't are listening to bad news sources downplaying the virus. We are going to have 2-3k dying each day very soon.

I just think suddenly now turning the screws tighter will piss people off bad. If that was the thing to do, should have done it a month ago.

Yes, we're going to see 2k+ deaths a day this next week. But that's a trailing figure. Most deaths today may still be pre or early shutdown infections. But if we are still escalating deaths mid-April then that's real bad. This next week will be ugly, oddly enough we should hope it's the ugliest. If we don't start turning the corner after Easter the following week, then that's real bad. That would mean that the March 16 "shutdown" isn't having the desired effect. It's harder ti make judgments just on positive tests, because so much of that is based on the level of testing. So it really is the hospitalizations and deaths that we want to watch closer. Need to start seeing daily reductions in the week following the next.
