Yes it's a different league but while some believe players from yesteryear wouldn't make it today, the other half believe just the opposite that today's players wouldn't make it then.

My Lord James Harden is averaging 37pts per game.

MJ would avg 50 in this weak azz league today and that's no exaggeration

I am with you on Stockton.

He has one of if not the most impressive feat in all of sports, owning not one but two all-time records.

And what makes it even more amazing is that they are on opposite sides of the ball.

One record on offense as all-time assists leader, and one record on the defensive side as all-time steals leader.

We'll probably never ever see this again in sports.

Perhaps need to clarify if we're talking about the best pure scorer ever in the game, as in one who can best get a shot to go down, whether from deep outside, mid range or ability to drive the hole etc., which Kobe or Jordan may be on top there (so many great scorers from Dominique to Dr. J.) Or, are we talking about the best all around player to help his team actually win rings, like Lebron, Bird, Magic, and thus talking about Defense, turnovers, passing/assists, everything? As a Bostonian, I'd probably pick Jordan over Kobe as best scorer by the smallest of margins. Jordan did the N.C. (education) thing which I think gives him the edge for me, along with and forgive me for saying, no one got the calls at home more than Kobe playing with the Jack Nicholson's in the front row.

As unbelievable scoring threats Bird/Magic were since college, they were just so with their passing, and picking up teammates for needed winners. Give the scoring edge to Bird, and passing edge to Magic. They were also tenacious on defense, and perhaps most importantly, they were so smart and always thinking/adjusting how to outsmart their oppenents and do whatever it takes for the TEAM to win.

Bird stealing Isiah's inbound and getting it to DJ with time expiring, when Detroit just got the ball with 5 seconds left and just had to inbound the rock that's it, to win a playoff game as an example. To not only not have given up on the game at that point (as many players cave down the stretch) as it was (virtually) over, and not only be clever enough to make the steal of the inbound by deaking like he was guarding another guy away from the inbound, but then also getting a perfect on the money pass to DJ in that split second, is what's special ... is what's BEST, right? If were talking about doing whatever it takes, and noboby did more than Bird/Magic, in helping teams win rings.

And with that, I'm going to say Lebron, as much as I hate him selling out USA so he can make another needless buck in China. With what he achieved from an Ohio High School, an unlike say AI never an off the court major issue or financial mis-management, for all-time all around NBA Player ... 'Bron is King. With what he built, and how he behaved, and how he led, and with what he had to work with verse what Bird/Magic/Kobe/Jordan had (even letting Wade lead if need be to win rings), with what he does on both ends of the court, and like all the players mentioned having the true love, passion, and peak level talent for the game, don't think there is anyone that overcome the odds more to have achieved all that this man did overall regarding the entire game from the locker room, personal stats, and Rings.

I saw bird play pretty much 75% of his career. He is not on any top 5 list. Was he a great player? Yes.

Jordan is the greatest player that ever played.

White guys can't love white guys now for some reason? White guys have to love non-white guys, and what, non-white guys have to love non-white guys too now? No one allowed to love white guys anymore? And, who exactly is white to you, Asians? How about Latins or Palestinians or Derek Jeters, are they white, or what? Isn't it embarrassing at all to you, what YOU are saying/thinking?

How about this ... if when having ZERO control of your skin color at birth (unless maybe you know a way a baby controls that), if is white (whatever to you that is), you can love white, black, or anything in between that your heart desires? And, that if you're black, you can love black, white, or anything in between that your heart desires. And, if you're not white or black, you can love black, white, anything in between, and anything else that may be available that your heart desires? Thus, what's it to you, if Anyone wants to love Anyone?
