Big game in St. Louis tonight (Part 2)

The Cardinals desperately need a win here.

Last game of three game set with the Brewers and are on the verge of getting swept, and maybe swept out of any playoff hopes.

Rockies are playing like a team possessed, dismantled the Phillies last night and have grabbed (for the time being) the final wild card spot by a mere 1/2 game.

I expect the Rox to waylay the Phillies tonight as the Phils magic season fizzled out.
Game line there is Rockies -195, and I don't lay anything that high.
Marquez should cruise tonight in that game. Back to the Card game.

Game line there is Brewers -108 / Cards -102, (or man to man pick 'em if you will)
Both pitchers are five and fly types.
Cards start long reliever/spot starter Ron Gant.
Brews start Colorado Rockies castoff Jhouls Chacin, who considering it was hitters paradise there at Coors had three stellar seasons pitching there in five full seasons. Then he had a cup of coffee with the Diamondbacks, the Chacin went to the Angles for a full season and stunk it up, last year pitching for the Padres won 13 for a no run support team, and his rest of the numbers last year were better than league average.

Tonight Chacin enters the game making his 34th start for the Brewers, which is a rarity these days, meaning he made every start this season not missing a turn. Has won 14 games, has a better that league average ERA of 3.61, and a much better than league average WH/IP ratio of 1.20
Chacin's problem this year he needs 90 or so pitches just to get to the seventh inning.
Opposing hitters must foul him off a lot, he gives up 2.8 walks per nine (tad high) but not alarming, gave up only 151 hits in 182 innings which is pretty good, and 17 HR's allowed is very good for 2018.

Cardinals pin their hopes tonight with John Gant, like I said is a long reliever / spot starter type.
Gant's been bloody awful lately, this is his fifth September start, previous four starts never making 7 full innings, and 3 out the 4 previous start never making five full innings. Has given up 17 hits, 13 walks in 16 innings and that's across 4 starts. Overall Gant is 7 and 9 with rather pedestrian 3.53 ERA and a WH/IP ratio of 1.29 His feature pitch is a 93 mph 2 seam fastball and Brewer bats can smack heaters.

So, I'm expecting just like last night's game, both pitchers leaving early, Chacin going deeper in the game with the better starter, Brewers bullpen still is better than the Cards 'pen (by almost a full run).

Chacin has been steady all season, Gant has been trending downward and that's being kind.
Brewers have the better starter, better bullpen, hotter bats, Cardinals seems gassed but not from lack of effort.
I expect tonight's game to wind up just like last night's game.

    Brewers -108 2*

Chacin pretty damn good against right handed hitters....only 2 leftys in the cards lineup.

Gant is terrible and has no business starting for a team in a playoff race. Even if he can keep runs off the board dont expect more than 4 innings.

Chacin should give some distance and hader should be good for 2 innings if needed.

Brewers knock out the cards tonight I think. Basically end their season.

Didn't take a moneyline, in my opinion the books have done a great job of splitting the bets with this line. It's a tought one to root out, but my Contrarian Fund is on the UNDER 8.5 in this game.

    Good Luck Nasher!

    Thanks.
I was looking at the live odds update 5:00 pm Brewers -104
    5:30 pm Brewers -105
    6:00 -106
    Game settles at -112.

At least I beat the closing line.
If shit for brains Aguillar holds at second base it's one out, two on and I guarantee the Brews would have scored three more in the third.

Gant is at 78 pitches through 4 innings.
That's what 4 hits and 3 walks gets you.
Even though he's given up just one run he taxes the bullpen.
Starters have to eat up innings, and Gant is hardly an innings eater.

James Shields had a few shitty seasons, but at least he gave you seven innings.

    Wrong all summer?
I hardly posted all summer, I had surgery.
I've hit my last 4 out of 4.
I had a bad week 3 weeks ago, but I got my groove thing back.

    Who you like Saturday Coach?
    Penn State or Ohio State.

    Love the Avy bro,
tell me you took the Royals tonight?
This kid is pitching a gem including an RBI double.
will net me +244.16 profit once this game concludes.

Get well Nasher, I'm assuming it was a back surgery, so I hope it's better.

I got Cards at plus money down 1-0. I'm not expert with betting bases, but just seems like a big spot for them. Obviously Brewcrew are chasing Cubs for the division, but Cards have been here before in big games.

Love my Royals, they piss you off for years, then BOOM !
2015 was the greatest baseball season of my life.
There were dozens of memories I'll take to my grave.
Hosmer's mad dash home from third.

Escobar's inside the park lead off inside the park home run.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Du-Qp6Y3Wjo

    Johnny Cueto's 2 hit masterpiece.

Game 4 against the Astros is my all time favorite.
KC down 6-2 in the 8th, elimination game if they lose, in game odds have Astoro's at 98 percent.
KC gets five consecutive hits, then comes the Correa error, my favorite, ball comes up on him.
    That's all she wrote

And let's not forget that 2 hit masterpiece from Johnny Cueto.

I'm crying as I write this.
    Tears of joy.

Mr. Glass planned that team starting 2009.

Man Hader's fastball had extra cheese tonight.
As a right handed hitter back in the day I hated to face lefties that threw cheese like that.
Carpenter's called ball on a clear cut strike three was a make up call from the other night.

Garcia slips and falls, are you kidding me????
He scores and this game goes 16 innings to 2 am.

Cards are a class act and they have loyal great fans, but this is a team that overachieved, besides Carp, Martinez, and maybe Ozuna, this is not a championship team.

This is a pretty good team that played beyond their potential, all the way to the final week of the season.

They clinched, and will make serious noise in the National League playoffs.
Indians, not the Astros, Yankees, or Red Sox are coming out of the American League, and I give Oakland a good chance to beat New York in the play in game.
