Hey guys. Quick question. I'm really confused and wondering if someone can clear this up for me. I purchased some litecoin and everyone is saying that you need a wallet. If I transfer my litecoin into a wallet does the price fluctuate in the wallet or only in the exchange?

I don't see the purpose of the wallet if I'm just gonna keep my coin in the exchange and let the value hopefully rise.

Basically what I'm saying is, what if I transfer my coin to a wallet and the price goes up and I lose out on it?

    Thanks for any help

You can just leave your litecoin on the exchange. If you want to download a wallet you can keep it there too. A crypto currency wallet is just like the wallet you keep in your back pocket. USD doesn't lose value by sitting in your wallet and neither does litecoin or any other coin.
Just keep it on the exchange. Easy solution that requires you to do nothing.

Yeah.....I have exhausted myself reading about Ripple and XRP the last few days. This is what I like:

    1. XRP is something being purchased and sold by real banks/institutions. No matter what anyone thinks (or would love to see), the banking industry is one of the globe’s top industries and I is not going anywhere. You can be sure that each and every bank will do everything they can to fight undercover crypto’s.

    2. What #1 means that regular people can eventually buy a crypto and possibly keep it at their bank. A TON of people will be reassured by this. Currently crypto’s can literally be lost if you do something stupid, like lose I’m your computer. I can’t even imagine that. I would almost certainly mess that up somehow. Most people out there are not conspiracy theorists and the safety of this will be compelling.

    3. It’s cheap. I get that the market cap is still not any more than the other crypto’s out there that it is competing with (aside from Ethereum and BTC) but what I like is that there is WAY more of it available. 38 billion or something like that. What that means is that it can never go to prices like $13,000. Who the hell wants to buy .01 of something for $200???? That feels like you are getting ZERO value. People will like the upside and most people investing won’t really understand that there are so many more available.

    4. I can see people in ETH and BTC getting a little scared. If you invested in BTC at $200 and sell a whack at $18,000....what would you do? I bet you would look for the ‘next one’. You can take a portion of that and buy a TON of XRP.

    5. Ripple as a company is now at 15 of the top 50 banks in the world and will likely be in ALL within the next 2 years. They are now recognized as being ‘de-risked’ in my opinion. That’s huge. They are also cash flow positive already, and very few companies at their stage of growth are.

    6. They were invented in 2011 and have been on the market since 2012. That tells me they are somewhat stable. Plus because they use this in accordance with their technology...it will likely never go away.

I still have no idea where to buy it, how to create a ‘wallet’, etc. When I do find out, I am going to throw some cash at it.

Last note....in the past 12 months it has gone from $.0065 to $0.89. That’s an increase of 13,700%. Also in the past week it has increase 400%. That means that the ‘real opportunity’ is likely over. Is there 1000% to make? Maybe. Another 13,700? Not Likely.

Again everyone....I feel like I am going on some knowledge here, but a lot of gut instinct. If anyone has anything of value to add, I would love to hear it.

One argument that I can make against investing too heavily in ripple, TRON, IOTA is that the Circulating Supply is in the billions. If you look at the top 100 on coinmarketcap.com, other than IOTA(around $4), EVERY single coin over 1 billion in circulation is less than $1. Common sense tells me that with so many out there, the ceiling can only be so high. It seems like there's a direct correlation between low circulation/higher potential ceiling and vice cersa. Can some of the crypto experts tell me how high they think some of these can potentially go? It seems to me the cryptos with lower circulations are much more likely to be the ones that you might hit the jackpot on. You'll likely profit with the high circulation coins as well but the astronomical upside is seemingly not there.

I guess it depends what you're looking for but I'm looking for an obscene amount of money from this venture so my position in the high circulation coins is modest in comparison to the rest of my portfolio.

Coinbase to gdax, and then to Binance.. Sent both btc and LTC today. Btc took a little under 1.5 hours total. LTC took about 25 minutes

Thanks. I've heard ppl say it's not good to jeep you coin on the brokerage (quadriga, coinbase, bitstamp etc.) For long periods of time in case they get hacked you can lose your coin. Is this true?

that seems to be the play based on the numbers...

How high do you think some of these billion+ circulating coins can potentially go? $10? $25? $100???

Factom could be something that really takes off in the next year. I like the team behind it, the utility that it has and the circulating supply is low.

If any of you are aggravated about high international wire fees (my local bank was going to charge $75 and I had to be in person to do it), I signed up for a Navy Federal account today and their international wire fee is only $25 and you can send online. You don't have to go to a branch in person which is what my local bank was making me do. Very convenient and cheap now to fund my Bitstamp account and buy there if there's a big enough arbitrage between GDAX and Bitstamp. Plus, Bitstamp offers ripple which GDAX doesn't.

Coinbase is FDIC insured for up to $250,000 if something happens to them. If you have less than that in there, I wouldn't worry about it. The hacking threat is the same there as it would be at any bank.

if you work the penny stocks the right way, you can always move from one to another after you maximize your own profit. You are correct that maybe ADA or IOTA won't hit $1,000 or maybe even $100 but if you have 10,000 shares and you can get it from $1 to even $2.50 thats huge profit.

Then take that and find another $1 stock and maybe it moves to $1.50, again good profit with a huge amount of shares.

I'm only sitting with less than 150 shares of ADA and VEN but you have to start somewhere and I'm hoping to be able to put $500 a month next year after my wedding into this and slowly you will see bigger profits.

We all missed the bitcoin jackpot. Maybe some hit and congrats to those who did, but I sure missed my chance, but now looking at other opportunities to make money, maybe not a million bucks, but couple grand here and there sure would be nice

ya, if you get penny cryptos early, you can definitely still make a huge % but I'm not seeing much upside when they are at or approaching $1....just something to think about and everyone has their own strategy.

Binance is the lowest commission, but its user interface is probably not the easiest. Bittrex seems to be the easiest to use but be careful which coin you withdraw from also. It's almost down to personal preference. Some coins are not traded on all of the exchanges.

Yes, and you can bypass the wallet. The wallet is only recommended on this site as a means of being an intermediary to mask your transactions when depositing/withdrawing from a sports book so Coinbase doesn't freeze your account.

yes...you'll create a coinbase account, deposit money into said account then once those funds are available you'll deposit it into binance where you can buy most of the various coins mentioned in this thread. There are a ton of great videos on YouTube explaining the exact process, just type into the search bar "buying crypto using coinbase + binance' and you'll get at least 5-10 videos which clearly explain the exact process

Nobody knows anything, it's all speculative. In this market everyone is making money by just being in. Look at what I posted above and out of all those coins it doesn't matter which one you're in, you made money today.

With Cardano, most of us think they're positioning themselves to be the next big thing. I think they have tremendous upside even at .51 but they still don't have an actual platform that is truly useable AT THIS TIME. I was in when it was under .10 so my risk is small compared to the risk you will take at .51, but I will say I continue to buy ADA even at .50. In fact, I just bought 2500 more, so take it for what it's worth.

I believe we're going to see a period soon of correction and stagnation and when that happens we'll see who has the stomach to ride it out.

Im with you. Dont take my opinion wrong, Im still pumping as much money in as I can as fast as I can.

Right now the biggest hurdle in how much I make is how quick I can get more money available

Anyone with a **** that is not maxing it out for instant funds is losing money by not doing so

I think we're going to see a tremendous few weeks leading into 2018. Then we might see a big sell off in January. This should be a huge week as people will be looking to buy crypto for their kids stocking stuffers.

    question

so my friend introduced me to bit coin like 3-4 years ago when he was buying drugs off silk road with it. I dabbled in it because it was interesting, and then when offshore started taking it as deposit I used it there.

So I have no real experience for people actually paying bitcoin for anything other than dark web stuff and gambling.

with some of these newer crypto's that everyone is talking about what is the marketplace for it currently? are there people accepting some of these newer alts already as payment for goods/services?

or are the prices almost solely a function of the belief that that particular alt's tech ect ect might someday make it come out head and shoulders above the rest? or at least be one of the few alt coins that is thriving 10-20-50 years from now?

Go from Coinbase to GDAX then go to Binance. GDAX is the professional site of Coinbase and there's no fee to transfer to there first.

I found it easier to initially buy coins at Bitstamp. I don't know what's quicker today but back then it took me awhile to get verified on Coinbase but I bought immediately on Bitstamp with a CC and the fees were reasonable. You can use a CC on Bitstamp and buy BTC, BCH, ETH, LTC and XRP immediately. If you want to buy some of these alt coins then you should buy BTC, ETH or LTC to start.

Then you transfer the BTC/ETH/LTC to either Bittrex, Binance or Poloniex in order to buy the alternate coins. These 3 shops usually only take BTC, ETH or LTC to buy. You can't use USD or other coins.

    So example,

    1. first buy $$$ of ETH,LTC/BTC from Bitstamp (or coinbase/GDAX) by choosing the buy/sell then choose credit card. Once you verify your credit card, the coins will be there.

    2. In Binance, click Funds, select Deposit/withdrawals. Choose the coin you want to transfer from Bitstamp (either ETH, LTC or BTC). Hit the Deposit button next to the coin you bought. You will get a deposit address. Copy that address.

    3. Go back to Bitstamp, you would go to withdrawals and paste your ETH, LTC or BTC address you got from Binance and you will send ETH, LTC or BTC to Binance. Remember to only deposit or withdraw the same type of coin. BTC for BTC, LTC for LTC, ETH for ETH.

You now have ETH, LTC or BTC at Binance (or Bittrex or Poloniex).

    4. Now you have to exchange your ETH/LTC/BTC for the coin you want to buy.

    5. Go to Exchange, Basic, type the coin you want in the search box at the upper right. Select the coin you bought (Binance only lets you use ETH, BTC for this example). Let' say you wanted Tron. You put TRX in the search, select BTC if that's what you bought. Click on the TRX/BTC pair and look in the middle and you will see you can buy or sell TRX. If you don't have any TRX then you can only buy. You should see the amount of BTC that you transferred from Bitstamp originally. You would then buy at the market rate. You can set the buy or sell price you want from this tab.

It's pretty easy to move coins around from one exchange to another. But everything is at a cost. Check your cost, so that you don't pay huge fees to buy
