Looks like they are weeding out lesser traded cryptos and delisting them to free up server space. They have a list of the ones being kicked off if you haven't browsed it yet.

I know it didn't hit the USD traders but regardless on XRP mine just sold at .21 on the 25% pump in recent days. I'll gladly take it and wait to jump back in on the dip to .16 or .17 again. Rinse and repeat for a few weeks while all of the new money comes pouring in on top of the hype.

Just a quick question. I'm not looking to transfer any bitcoin to sportsbook. So do I only need a bitcoin wallet. I don't need block chain, correct. I just want to buy some and see what happens. Also, what is a good amount to start with? Is it a good time to buy?

To get started you will need to open an account at an exchange such as Coinbase, Kracken or Bitstamp. Normally you could just transfer from the exchange to the sportsbook. But because exchanges hate to send transfers to a sportsbook you should transfer from the exchange to your private wallet that you setup at blockchain.info. Then transfer it from blockchain.info to your sportsbook.

Is it a good time to buy? As we have said in this thread the last few years BTC has been very strong from the 2nd week of August to at least mid Sept. Is it a coincidence that the price has moved up pretty dramatically during this time period? Probably. At $4227 I am more of a seller. But history suggests we will see higher ground.

What if I do not want to transfer it to a sportsbook? Can I just keep it in the exchange?

    Sure.

Most folks just open an account at an exchange, fund it and start trading. Exactly like opening an Etrade account or some other investment account. The big difference is you can transfer bitcoin anywhere and any time whereas you can't transfer your Apple stock at Etrade.

I just got something with my Fidelity accounts that they can track all my crypto currencies. I'm not sure what they are doing but they are obviously trying to ride the train too.

It's part of a feature Fidelity offers called "Full Access". You can enable Fidelity to access all of your financial accounts (banks, ************, and so on) daily and allow you to view your balances and transactions in one place without having to visit each site separately. There are several online sites that provide similar services (Mint, Personal Capital, etc). They've added Coinbase. I don't know if they will add other cryptocurrency exchanges.

I know coinbase will freeze your account if you transfer to a sports book. How about kraken?? Are transfers for kraken treated the same way?

All the US licensed ones say no usage for betting, but it's been a long time since anyone posted about being banned, even from Coinbase.

I've tried to get my hands around what Bitcoin is, how it's used and, most importantly, what the advantages are, but I just don't get it. Who wants to take a crack at trying to explain this in 100 words or less? Thanks.

Google "blockchain for dummies", there's numerous sites that break it down in plain english. Follow that up with a search for bitcoin (or cryptocurrency) for dummies. Then read. Plenty of videos available too. You don't need to know how the clock works, just how to tell time.

BTC almost touched on 5,000 last night. You gotta believe from a purely supply & demand standpoint that Bitcoin will continue to rise from now & until the end of the year, due to the upcoming NFL/NCCAF season. Bitcoin is a major part of a 2 Billion dollar illegal sports betting industry that is a more prevalent method than ever to send/receive money in Cryptocurrency. I see a 20-30% rise by the end of this calendar year which puts it at a max per coin (6,500). I also believe in the next 10-20 years Cryptocurrency taking over as our preferred dominate method choice for use as currency worldwide, having said that I also anticipate a HUGE global financial catastrophic event taking place near the LAST mined coin regarding "The Don" of Cryto (BTC) which is a debatable year. I think it's going to happen sooner in our life time around the 2040's decade. People will lose 100's of Billions of dollars during that time span due to a 75% drop in value because it is in-fact one big Ponzi-scheme waiting to show its GREEDY face full frontal. The price of BTC will hover over 100,000 a coin in my growth acessment during this time period. All other Cryptocurrency will deteriorate as well, but not nearly as much as BTC.

Any merit to idea of natural Buy/Sell points?

Were people automatically going to sell off at 5000, to take some profits? And vice-versa, buy back in on a 20% drop?

Nothing special about round numbers like 4K or 5k in a vacuum

Yet human psyche will build constructs based on nothing real
