#8I do like the new break they have halfway through each half. I think that's smart. Especially for super hot day. Should make for a better game.Comment -

#9They were all loudly and clearly warned before the tourney. And it has made a noticeable and positive difference so far this WC.Originally posted by DwightShrute
for sure right? But cover your mouth and its a red?
It was good to see him slammed so hard and so fast. No one else will be dumb enough to think they are above the rules now.
Also, it seems a bit rich to be fake outraged about penalties for sneaky abuse in polarized/politicized USA when NFL has had lame rules about how players celebrate their successes for so long.

#10ya I know that part but what's the positive difference in your opinion? Perhaps you can even change my mind by explaining why you think so.Originally posted by Optional

Maybe you can also explain to me what you mean by "fake outrage"? I am not from Paraguay and not related to the player who receive the red card.
If you call certain NFL rules "lame"? Is that also "fake outrage"? I assume that applies to hockey and baseball? What is fake about an opinion you have about the rule? About any rule in any sport? Is your response to my criticism of this new rules also fake? Or is it just the criticism that is fake? Or could it be that any criticism of any rule in any sport which you like, is fake? I am confused.
Could it just be that someone thinks a rule is dumb? You know, without the whataboutisms? Is it possible to think a rule, like this one by FIFA regarding covering your mouth, is just dumb on its own without mentioning the USA, the NFL or any comparisons to other sports leagues rules or any other fluff you wanna throw out there?
Thank you for your attention to this matter.Comment -

#11The positive difference is the complete absence of the normal racist/bigot controversies that have plagued international soccer tournaments. It's been refreshing and nice to only hear about the sport instead of what extremist bigots of your ilk want talked about.
And no, thinking something is lame is not a term of outrage. It suggests bemused dismissal.
Crying about a simple rule that stops the type of hate you spew daily is fake outrage pal.
btw, keep your politicoslop stuff out of player talk threads in future.Comment -

#12Its still a stupid rule. That is all I am saying. Remember when the catcher could block the home plate? I said that rule was idiotic. They finally changed it.
There are so many more.Comment -

#13You lost me with favoring the mandatory “hydration break.” Straight up not necessary and just a money grabbing opportunity to have commercial breaks. Last World Cup, they had it at the discretion of the referee due to the heat. Oh but now, even if it’s 60 degrees, they’ll have it.Comment -

#14Its tough you have to have it for whole of tournament the hydration break, ref can't pick and choose what suitable time.Comment -

#15Next World Cup we’ll have, instead of 2 minute warning, we’ll have “extra time” warning break.😀 1Comment -

#16Yeah thats why they did it for all games. Was mainly only needed for Miami games but they wanted to keep an even playing field.Originally posted by slayer14Its tough you have to have it for whole of tournament the hydration break, ref can't pick and choose what suitable time.Comment -

#20sure looks like most, if not all, of teh best teams in the world are going to make it through to the knock-out round. Shaping up nicely to be possibly the greatest WC.
Watching Renaldo light it up at 41 tonight.
