I know the branding of Wagertalk.com has changed. Much different now.

I'd argue that the OLD Wagertalk msg-board was the best board ever. It was very early on, no login required. This meant that "ghost" handles were prevalent. It was a fun board, and it was actually a good source of info to turn profits. Just my opinion.

What is considered "bashing" these days came off more as fun posts back then, give and take ...

Only advantage to these type of boards is in keeping the spammers and total idiots at bay ...

        Hey, Jim!
        1) Thanks for the note.
        2) I used to call WT the "Wild West". No log-in, just show up and post.
        3) The ribbing and light-hearted humor was something else.
        4) For the time, the score-updates and info-exchange was actually pretty good.
        5) The Crack Rat war vs the DRUTs was worth the price of admission.

A random memory - Y2K was approaching along with the accompanying hysteria.

Hours before midnight EST somebody posted from somewhere far east or Australia - just past midnight, no issues. Went like that, through Europe, finally here in NA, hour by hour midnight came and went, bringing a sigh of relief ...

I was working for an IT company selling Y2K remediation packages. Basically checking every computer system for Y2K susceptible flaws.

As midnight ticked past across the world with no issues I was thinking hmmm, if there are zero problems our company is going to lose a lot of credibility
                .

                      Hey, Sim. LOL.

That site was hilarious. It produced real characters:
*CRACK RAT was bright and articulate. But he would get enraged when he got challenged by posters. "I'll jump thru the screen and choke you."
*HAMMER was another guy. This was back when the Internet was gaining steam. Hamm was trying to establish himself as the best capper on the internet.

                      The ghost-posts, the laughs LOL.
