He is getting compensated to stay at Oregon but he may forgo 50 Million in guaranteed money 2026 NFL Draft. Wonder who the Jets take now. They need a QB and pick 2nd. Assuming Mendoza goes first to LV, NYJ have some tough choices to make.

#2Chambliss. Big time QB. They should grab him and not think twice. Hopefully he learns the position a bit and stays intact- his HC won't last very long. Aaron Glenn is awful.Originally posted by Easy-Rider 66He is getting compensated to stay at Oregon but he may forgo 50 Million in guaranteed money 2026 NFL Draft. Wonder who the Jets take now. #3was thinking that too. However, Chambliss is a bit short and only played major college ball 1 year. Not sure the Jets would draft him that high?Originally posted by ByeShea

#4That’s the tricky part. Oregon can pay him well, but passing on $50M guaranteed is huge. If Mendoza goes first to Vegas, the Jets are really on the clock at 2. They need a QB, but forcing the pick could be risky.Originally posted by Easy-Rider 66He is getting compensated to stay at Oregon but he may forgo 50 Million in guaranteed money 2026 NFL Draft. #5I wonder if Moore wanted to avoid going to the Jets? As a young QB, I'd do the same as that franchise is a mess from the top down. That said, I think he needs more time in college to hone his skills and will be a lot better off a year from now. He did not play well in many games against top teams.
As far as passing up $50 million, I'm sure he will get a nice insurance policy in case he gets a bad injury. He has a better shot of making more money long term by staying in college another year as he will be more NFL ready and more likely to get a big 2nd contract down the line.Comment -

#7Maybe but they are certainly a dysfunctional franchise, not to mention the fact that young players(especially QBs) are under a ton of pressure with the fans/media there.Originally posted by Easy-Rider 66
good point. NYJ are cursed.
Moore made the right call for his career long term here in my view given all the factors involved. He has never impressed me all that much for the record however I'm wrong often.

Some athletes prefer warmer cities over wind, snow, and ice.
Some athletes don't like playing in media frenzies, bright lights, big cities like NYC where FOX Sports and ESPN have three cameras up your butt 24/7...
If the Jets were smart, and the Raiders select Mendoza (and they will), there are no other QBs draft eligible worth the second overall pick; they still have options.
The Jets could trade the #2 for picks and/or players, move down in the draft, and get a lesser-ranked QB later in the draft, or they can select the best non-QB player (Jets have other needs than QB too)and go out and sign a 'bridge QB' like Danny Jones for a year or two. The Jets have options; the last thing they want to do is draft another draft failure like Zach Wilson again, which they wasted with a #2 pick.
The loyal Jets fan will explode in anger if that happens again. I'm not a Jets fan, but I love their fan base; they're uber loyal, and they don't deserve this. At least my NYG won a road playoff game four years ago; the Jets fan base hasn't seen a meaningful playoff game since 2010 with Mark "Sanchize" and coach Ryan.
They've had a decade, ten years of consecutive losing seasons full of comedy errors. I couldn't stand it; I don't know how they put up with it.
The infamous Sanchez butt fumble.

If there is not a QB worth drafting at #2, do not reach for one. It might upset the fans but trading down and accumulating more draft capital as they need help everywhere anyhow.
I agree with them signing a bridge QB for next year but Daniel Jones will not be available I do not think. The Colts seem to be happy with him and want him there even after the injury. I'm not sure who will be available but I do not think anyone is in a hurry to sign there.Comment -

#10Probably the way. There is no sure-fire QB that these Jets can draft right now. Might as well stack up players as they let 2 major ones go - and sign rather than try and draft a QB they're not ready to make into a pro. Mac Jones and Malik Willis are two names getting thrown around - both guys with better track record than Justin Fields.Originally posted by stevenash

Still, I can't believe these idiots are going through the formality of giving Aaron Glenn's slow march to getting canned while there are better coaches looking for a job. Even if they didn't get a blue chip HC, like the Giants just did, and got some name - he will be better than Glenn.Comment -

#11I like the idea of trying and trade for Willis or Jones seeing as there likely won't be a QB worth drafting at #2. Can probably get Jones fairly cheap but I think Willis will take a 1st rounder possibly. Jones is serviceable and better now after being with Shanahan for a couple of years. Willis has also made great strides under LaFleur and has shown some great flashes the past couple of seasons starting while Love was hurt. Willis has some serious upside and could be highly coveted this offseason and could actually be the answer at QB while Jones is more likely a bridge guy.Originally posted by ByeShea
