i'll stick with the SBRlines. the boys of SBR have really did a mighty fine job maintaining there free service.
i do like what mike at G&J has been doing with there service too. but, they still need to work on a few things. if they want to compete with DB

Free is for me, and SBR continues to do a fine job with their free service. Im not in a real need for a line service, so I dont see it cost efficient for me to pay for one.

SBRLines goal is to dominate the free odds category. In that process we will pass G&J. Passing DonBest is not one of our goals. Hopefully we can work with both or maybe even aquire G&J or some of the other line players.

Since I, and my company were mentioned you are stuck with my reponse..
First, about Don Best. Yes, I had dreams of catching up with them. With their latest acquisition deal I see that dream fading fast. They are like a Billion dollar company now. I think we all have created a monstor, and eventually we all will be at their mercy. I still have some fight left in me though, our product gets better daily and the price hasnt changed. Given enough time I think I can build a better product than DB, but at what point does a better product mean more success? They will always have more customers and money, but at least I can share in the pie. It honestly speaks volumes for a little mom-and-pop joint to constantly be mentioned along side a monster in this industry. If some of you only knew how powerful DB really was (as a company) and the amount of fight it took for G&J to get where it is today...
Now, as far as Free services. The way I see it is this. SBR used to have the best free service on the web. They def. pioneered the new standard. But as I stated awhile ago on the boards and to the people behind the scenes, the best compliment I could give SBR was to build my own service. In doing so I believe I have surpassed them. But my opinion could be biased. I just think since I was already in the line service business it was easier for me to create a product.
Like SBR, ours does not yet work on mozilla, but it will shortly.
Who knows John, I am an honest guy.. maybe down the road there is something we can do together business-wise. As long as it is mutually beneficial. I am always up for the task. We are going to be expanding G&J early next year, maybe some of our goals will cross paths.

Mike I have been checking your site and software regularly for month, why is it that most of your links on your site and even buttons in your software just dont work?
Like right now, most all your drop down menu items like football and basketball, hockey and baseball all have sub links and most of them never work?
Even in the application you have links to stats and matchups and I never saw it working their either.
As good as you may think your software is, to me it looks 1/2 ass. I mean if you can get your links on your home page to work for months how can you expect the industry to take you serious?

trouble maker i think your computer is trippin. i log in from the sbrlines log in for all my sportsbooks all the time and never had a problem with the statfox game info/stats either. looks like you might be having pop up problems.
G&J on the other hand has a website that most of the links on its home page do not work.

Until recently I didnt appreciate the importance of having a good website. I wasnt interested in traffic coming back. The website was a vehicle to download our software. The links in the software do work. If they didnt at one time maybe it was because we were switching stat providers to statfox.
Now that I do see the importance of a good website, we are working very hard on expanding G&J to more than a line service, and into a full portal. I have most of the website done on our development servers, but for the reason you stated (not wanting to look 1/2 ass) I have not yet moved it over to production yet. Our free line service wont be officially live and marketed until the beginning of the year, but the buttons on it should be working just fine.

Hello MIKE!!
I am always happy to see you chime in.
Well, now that you have surpassed us I'll just have our guys disable our site.
OK back to reality.
Mike, dont rest, because we sure aren't going to.
I shouldn't do this but I really like the competition so here goes.

Its not going to do that every time it loads is it?
hey, it looks great. As long as the data is easily accessble. I never was a fan of how flash handled databases. And you know I will never stop working..

G&J Mike, why do you have such poor books on your free version? Eagle, BetUS, SBG.
That's a big difference between our two services. No way will there ever be a BetUS or SBG on anything where you see 'SBR' (except maybe the Blacklist).
Our service is free but that doesn't mean we punish players with bottom feeder books.
OK..I feel better now that I got that out of my system...
Hopefully we can work together. The players win with all of this.

I would love to work with you guys on something. Awhile ago I was hoping you would take over this industry and put some of the older-thinkers out of their misery.
As far as the books... Eagle is a PPH book and a unique thing to have on a service. I think it is a nice book. I researched BetUS long and hard before we put them on. It seems they are turning over a new leaf. SBG hasnt really done anything to anyone in a really long time either, and most of these shops you rate low seem to be because of sharp action problems. I figured if you hadnt reported much bad news lately, and if they were a Don Best preferred sportsbook, we were pretty safe.
Keep up the good work over here.
btw, are you going to be in vegas for kens thing?

Mike,
I tried your free offer a while back and was impressed that in terms of tracking line movement it seemed to do what DB did. I also like that it's cheaper. I was concerned that the injury news wasn't as good, although when I tried it wasn't during basketball season when I'm better at figuring out who does what.Would you mind explaining how you get your injury information?
Also I'm glad that you've gotten the message on the importance of the first page a potential customer sees. I too was put off by all the broken links and dated information. I was really skeptical that your lines feeds would work, and was pleasently surprised that they worked so well.
For those shopping for a line service Mike's require a download that stays on your computer like a lot of books had in the old days. If you're like me and need to look at a screen at different computers you might value the DB web-based approach. Other than that I'd give a thumbs up to Mike's product and would especially recommend it for someone whose just getting serious enough about sports betting to start to want to gauge the market as well as make reasoned picks. In my opinion his product offers good value for that customer. It also gets you used to setting up a screen to follow the particular markets you might want to monitor.
Mike...I look forward to the continued evolution of your product...and I think it's great that you and SBR can chew on each other a little here in what I think can be a productive rivalry, or maybe some day, collaboration.

No rivalry on my side. Look at my posts that date back a few months. I have always tried to give constructive criticism, and always praise these guys. The front page laziness is being corrected, and we will soon be expanding our offerings. Thank you for the kind words about our service, it is always nice to hear. As far as injuries. We beat pretty much everyone to the information in baseball in late-breaking injuries, and we will continue to improve that information. Continue to monitor our product, because although we may never be the biggest line service company, we would like to be the best one day.
And John, any time you are in town (vegas) lets get together. I would travel but I have a full plate. (New house being built, baby on the way, etc...)

Without the Pinnacles, 5Dimes, CRIS, Olys and Hollywoods you will be behind on which way the market is moving regardless of how fast the software and updates are. The more obscure the books are, the less people can use it right?
I think I remember you saying something like this to SportsCrew in the forums so that's why I was curious if these were the books you were going to run with.

As SBR_John notes in his question, the shxt books are on the free service and I agree with you they're gamey and worthless for market watching. As I recall the pay service has all the big guys.

Good luck on the baby and new house. Looks like things are changing are gonna be changing!
I'm in vegas about once a month so we will get something arranged. I'll be in LA for the Rose Bowl with some time to kill.
