Hindsight. I most likely make that trade as well. The Clippers looked like sure champs on paper. Until it all came crashing down. Heck the Nets looked like sure winners with Kyrie, Durant and Harden. It’s hard to get it right in the NBA. You also need luck to stay healthy.

I believe worst trade ever was Charlotte drafting Kobe Bryant and trading him to the Lakers. Charlotte would have been dominating the NBA for years if they didn't get screwed on that one.

Yeah, that was probably the worst.

Atlanta trading Bill Russell is probably 1a worst. 11 titles, including 8 straight is insane.
‘Seattle trading Pippen to the Bulls for OLD Polynice.
Bucks trading Kareem to the Lakers.
Nets going after old Celtics players allowed Boston to get Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum setup the Celtics.

Mavs trading Luka to the Lakers

Why the hell does Boston and LA get all the breaks?

Because there is no college basketball in these markets so the NBA has more fans in those markets and let these lopsided trades go. Can you name the best college basketball team within 25 miles of Boston on LA that won something recently?

But how do the Celtics/Lakers trick the other teams to make such dumb trades?

We should add Charlotte in this thread because they traded SGA initially to the Clippers for Bridges. Ouch.

But the Mavs letting Brunson walk for nothing then trading Luka is all sorts of dumb.

Remember the league is owned by the 32 owners. So a lot has to do with the revenue sharing because the TV money is spread equally with the teams. So if the NBA is making more TV revenue by having the LA/Boston markets have better ratings than the Charlotte market (which will never be an NBA market due to Duke/NC in college) and the Charlotte team is losing millions due to lack of attendance or TV ratings of their team then the commisioner can strongarm the Charlotte owner to accept horrible trades with the carrot stick being the equal revenue that they get amongst the other teams that makes all other losses go away and the team is profitable even for Charlotte owner..where if the teams were independent and not owned by the NBA owners as a league Charlotte would have folded due to lack of TV deal or attendance.

OKC would have to at least win a title before there could be any comparison to the Walker trade.

True. OKC still hasn’t done shit yet. Trading Bill Russell and Kobe are two worst by far for me.
