#3If Mavs wanted Luka, I think they would have told him privately that he'll be on the trading block if he doesn't come in shape. The more I read about it, the more it seems to be a ploy to move to Vegas.
The owners wanted a casino back to back with the arena in Texas. Texas wouldn't pass a gambling bill to allow this. The owners are in the casino business and decided that a move to Vegas would only be possible if they were to kill the fan base. With Luca and a big fan base, the NBA wouldn't have allowed the move. Just my guess since I don't really know.Comment -

#6Look at the Sixers. They extended Embiid and suddenly he's like Kawhi and can't play the first half of the season. That's where Luka is headed. Personally, I've always felt all pro sports' regular season are too long except for football. But that's another subject. I wouldn't want to pay a super-max contract to anyone who wasn't hell bent about staying in shape. Dallas knows they could have gotten much much more for Luka but I wonder what they know that other teams don't know.Comment -

Day night double headers, 100-degree heat in July and August, it didn't matter what the conditions were.

The difference in today’s NBA and the past is the sheer amount of times guys fall to the floor. In the past, You might see Bill Laimbeer fall to the floor every 4 or 5 games. Big guys Like Jokic or Embiid might fall 4 or 5 times a night. I challenge you to torque your body and fall 5 times on your living room carpet and tell me how your joints feel. It’s not the bumping and physical body contacts, it’s the constant falling because guys are bigger, stronger and much faster. The human body is not made to withstand so many falls. It takes me3 days to recover from a grueling basketball game at the local gym. How the hell can anyone expect these big guys to play back to backs, 4 games in 6 nights? That’s fukkin crazy.Comment -

You ever catch both ends of a doubleheader on July 4, in 98-degree heat in full gear?
I lost twelve pounds in water weight.
I caught a fastball once in the wrong spot of my mitt that snapped my left thumb ligament straight back.
I've been concussed several times.
I once took a vicious cheap shot elbow to the head on a bang-bang play at the plate from a 6'4" 220-pound linebacker type so hard the next thing I remembered was waking up in the ER with cuckoo-cuckoo birds circling around me.
You want to sell baseball is a sport where guys loaf off half the time, fine, but don't bring that shit around here, because I'm not buying.Comment -

#21Much needed ratings boost for the NBA now that Luka is in LA
Dallas avoids a max contract for a out of shape/injury prone Luka
LA gets somewhat damaged goods who stands to benefit from mentorship from Lebron
The league pretends like this happened out of nowhere but it probably didn't behind closed doors.Comment -

#27Not a baseball player but coach junior high baseball with a buddy (trade off because he helps me with youth football), I agree with Nash. We are currently in optional practices in the gym and we bag our kids like it's 2/days in foots or like it's hockey. How the heck you suppose to make it around the bases if you aren't conditioned?Comment -

U can't pay these ridiculous contracts anymore to guys that can care less if they play the NBA is an unwatchable product until June.
Owners and players are all making a killing. 51% goes to the players. That’s fair. Plenty of money to go around. International exposure will be an even bigger impact.Comment -

‘The Gator football team would have to walk past the baseball team after practices. One afternoon I pick up a bat, step to the plate in full pads and helmet. Mike Stanley who was a catcher throws a slider at me. I stood there frozen as the ball went from left to right. I just knew that ball was going to pluck me in the helmet. It curved right past my face. All I heard was a swoosh. I dropped the bat, ran towards our locker room laughing like it was no big deal. That pitch scared the hell out of me and I had on a helmet….. and he was a catcher. I’d never try that again.Comment -

#35Originally posted by Mac4LyfeAnd I believe you have to have some of the best skills to play baseball. How many people dare get behind the plate staring down a 100 mph fastball. You have to have fast twitch muscles, hand eye coordination that is out of this world to play baseball. Try catching a pop shot in the infield. Only a hand full of people can play at that level. I have much respect for what they do.
