ASU is the Cinderella story here if there is one. But assuming their next opponent is Texas, I don't think they have much of a chance because Scatteboo will not be running wild on the Horns' defense and when that doesn't happen they're a very different team.

There will be 3 weeks between now and when the Devils play though so that's always a wild card they could use to their advantage.

Clemson won the ACC title game. They are ranked 16th in the bracket and SMU is 10th. That was what I found shocking. Without the conference title win, Clemson is not a Playoff team. Now, there seems to be a notion that teams could potentially sit out conference title games , and perhaps to insure the intergerity and vitality of the conference title game, the committee chose to keep a conference loser in... Conference championship games served as a way to promote a more clear National Champion in the 90s. The SEC started in 92 and the Big 12 followed a few years later. Now that we have a way to determine a "clear cut" National Champion there is no longer a need tor Conference title games. Once the conference title games are no more, then we can eliminate conferences all together and allow each individual school to be sovereign.
