UNLV QB sitting out after 3-0 start
Rebs were off to a hot start and one of the favorites to win the MWC and potentially grab a CFB playoff spot.

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Former UNLV QB Matthew Sluka’s NIL representation, Marcus Cromartie of Equity Sports, told ESPN that Sluka was verbally promised a minimum of $100,000 from a UNLV assistant coach for transferring there. None of that money was paid, per Cormartie.</p>&mdash; Pete Thamel (@PeteThamel) <a href="https://twitter.com/PeteThamel/status/1838949768787096036?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw" >September 25, 2024</a></blockquote> <script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

        Rest of the thread:

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">He said the school and collective came back with a contract of $3,000 per month for the next four months. That’s $88,000 less than what Cromartie said UNLV verbally promised up front.</p>&mdash; Pete Thamel (@PeteThamel) <a href="https://twitter.com/PeteThamel/status/1838949771228127292?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw" >September 25, 2024</a></blockquote> <script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">When that didn’t come, he evaluated his options and decided play elsewhere next year. The redshirt will allow him to play a full spring at a new school and develop with a trainer this fall. He enrolled in July at UNLV after graduating from Holy Cross and missed spring.</p>&mdash; Pete Thamel (@PeteThamel) <a href="https://twitter.com/PeteThamel/status/1838949773669187767?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw" >September 25, 2024</a></blockquote> <script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

This guy only had UNLV as an option because he wanted to stay at holy cross in the spring and party and fuk around. He refused to attend spring ball and told every school that. UNLV agreed to letting him show up in July.

In my opinion, it’s on the agent. Never trust those guys. I also think they have played better than expected and he wanted more but that will come out in the wash. We should expect this situation to be a reoccurring event from now on in college football.

The other piece is he barely beat out the other 2 guys so good bye. UNLV a nice start but still losing 3+ games.

100k? That's it...wow I'm surprised someone else didn't step in and paid him.

He didn’t want to play spring ball so the other schools backed off.

Agreed, you would think UNLV NIL collective/boosters would scramble to get him what he was promised and to stay on the team and finish the season.

suax, I do not blame the kid for giving them the finger after being strung along for months.

I don’t blame him either but he should be mad at and fire his agent. Not having this stuff in a contract or writing is hilarious.

Agree with that and it's a good lesson for the young man going forward in life...always get things in writing!!

I’m not sure these “agents” are even real agents at this point. It’s a collection of handlers all around them asking for things like vultures. The lesson will serve him well in the future.

NIL running rampant - What could possibly go wrong? Won't be the first time this happens...

None of the NIL contracts are in writing I think. All this pay for play is still illegal in the NCAA. NCAA has lawsuits that are tied up in court. This is why the big time schools want to separate them self's from the NCAA. The schools want regulations just as much as the players.

Nasher, I am going to sit out posting because I wasn't given the $1000 I was promised to keep this place running.
