Tennessee increases ticket prices by 10% to help pay athletes
Tennessee is increasing the cost of tickets for all sports by 10%, with the "talent fee" being used to help pay athletes as part of the revenue-sharing plan.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- In what is believed to be the first arrangement of its kind, Tennessee fans for all sports will be charged a 10% "talent fee" on tickets to help pay athletes as part of the new revenue-sharing plan set to begin in 2025.

The university shared the news with football season-ticket holders via email Tuesday, which included an impassioned four-minute video of athletic director Danny White telling fans the talent fee and other strategies were "part of an extensive plan to continue our dominance in college athletics and build something like never seen before."

In addition to the 10% increase on all ticket invoices -- season tickets and single-game purchases -- as well as donations for those seats, Tennessee will add an average increase of 4.5% on all football tickets.

When it starts increasing more than 10%, how long until the fans start to stay home? Probably never. P.T. Barnum was right.

VDog, it's ridiculous. I was insulted by all the NFL holdouts. I will no longer pay for NFL tickets.

Thought it would take longer to hit Coll FB. It appears like it's already hit Coll FB, which is now semi-pro.
Where's the fuckin power box, Carol?

please do not hate on the holdouts.
if it were you or me or our sons we would ask them to do the same thing to get max dollar.
they all got paid except for jamarr chase in cincy. the rest of them (ceedee lamb, trent williams, ayouk, etc)
        all got paid.

does that make the owners whores for bending over and taking it in the backside?

don't hate the player, hate the game.

the players are risking their long term health and deserve to get compensated bigly, just look at tua.

They have to do this to ensure there are NIL Funds guaranteed each season. It’s insurance really. Brands and Boosters were falling over themselves to fund all this initially but that will slow when the championships don’t roll in and the business results don’t follow.

In Knoxville they will never stay home. They don’t have a 110,000 seat stadium for nothing. Everybody makes fun of the SEC “it just means more” thing but that’s because they know it’s true. Once this works at Tennessee they will all do it and it won’t make a dent in ticket sales. Top to bottom college football is a religion in the south.

Now it is total bullshit, because I honestly believe average fans should not be subsidizing NIL unless they absolutely want to. That’s what rich people and corporations are for. Let the millionaires and billionaires and the corporations and schools with their insane tuition increases every year pay the players and let the average jerkoffs have a good time without fleecing them. If I’m reading this right that’s 14.5% increase in football tickets. That’s absurd. But they’ll do it because they can and everyone might bitch and moan but they’re gonna keep paying for those football tickets.

                Fair comment. I should clarify:

                1) They have a right to holdout. But they ARE violating their contract. They get fined, and that's their own doing.
...Why is the Jet DL Reddick holding out?
...Chase has done nothing but talk about his contract. His 15-yard penalty cost his team a win on Sunday.

                2) They have their right. I have my right to not purchase.
...My ticket used to include some great kickoff collisions. No longer.
...It's a watered down product. I'm not paying.

                  Well worth it.

Dont see any1 here caring about a 10% boost, as long as the program keeps going in this direction.

I used to have season tickets to ATM games years ago when they were in the B12. They were dirt cheap and I didn't care if I missed a game or two. The year they move to the SEC. Season tickets went up 600%. I shit you not. Are they kidding me... Cancelled.

What I don't get with UT, is why even post this? Just raise the prices. They basically blamed the increase on the athletes and now people are even more pissed and think they are all pampered.

I'll be in Vegas next week, looking to see the Browns/Raiders game. Well, most hotels on the strip are +$1,000 on Saturday and seats to the game are +$600. WTF? I'm seriously considering staying downtown for that one night and watching the game at Caesar's Sportsbook. I'm pretty down on Vegas the city right now. Straight up gouging customers.

                          I hear you CHUCKer

i just want to see you have a nice time and if that means it is best for you and your loved ones to get to see NFL games in person, then that is what i want.

my wife cannot stand that hollywood actors/actresses make so much money so she always wants to boycott going to the movies. she'd rather wait until the movie comes out via streaming service and we watch at home and much cheaper if not free.

i told her that there is an experience of going to a movie that cannot be matched and by not going to the theater thinking she is hurting the actors pocketbooks, she is hurting her life much more than she is hurting them.

so i watched Top Gun Maverick with my friends in the theater and then with my kids. when i went to see it a third time (yes i am a loser and a sucker like that) she relented and she was so happy that she saw it in person with me.

Joker 2 comes out in a few weeks = theater movie for me!

Gladiator 2 comes out in Nov = theater movie for me!

and so on and so forth.

Still haven't seen much local negativity to it.
Not right now of course. Wait til they fall off at the end of the year

TN fans won't care even if they lost a few games. The athletics programs are all in great shape. Unless it implodes it will be sellout after sellout as usual.

totally agree. Will happen at all big programs soon I would think.
