    Best pulls from Card Packs
Share your best pulls out of card packs / boxes. Which box or pack did you pull card from & what store did you purchase it from?
I recently bought my nephew a 2024 Topps Value box ($24.99) from Amazon & pulled a Legendary Home Field Advantage Nolan Ryan which shows recent sales on eBay around $250-$300.
The odds of pulling a Legendary Home Field Advantage card are 1:32,000 packs so its prob one of the rarest cards that we have pulled. Im leaning towards sending it to get graded but this would be my first time getting card graded. Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks and good luck pulling (card packs that is)..

That is a nice pull, congrats!!

Those paper cards are very hard grades, I would not send it in to get graded as certain cards are difficult to get 10s or even 9s. I sent in a Bobby Witt Jr rookie Home Field Advantage that I pulled a year or 2 ago and it looked very clean and it came back a PSA 8...

I would sell it personally unless he or you has some type of attachment to Nolan Ryan?

Nice, Brady. I don't do much modern.

Fun to open packs. For me, I OLDER packs. Best pull I've ever seen live = guy who pulled an Ozzie Smith rookie card. It looked to be Mint (a 9 or 10), and there aren's many of those.
Where's the fuckin power box, Carol?

Chucky, ripping packs is definitely fun!

Be careful with those old packs(wax sealed) as many have already been opened and resealed.

For sure, Jake. So likely that the older packs have been re-sealed. There was a whole market for 1986 Fleer Bask packs. A clean WRAPPER sold for a good bit. I wonder why.

Have a few stories on the old packs. Much greater than 50/50 chance that they've been re-sealed.

I'd never buy a wax sealed pack, regardless of how good it looks(clean wrapper) or if it's been certified...do not trust it.

That's sound advice. I have to jog my memory on these details. But I have one Ebay story:

*I purchased a 1980-81 Topps hockey set. It looked fairly good (but not Mint).
...I like collecting those sets. I was happy with the condition & price. Included Gretzky 2nd year card.
...Kicker was that he included one wax pack from that year. As I'm purchasing, I'm saying to myself that there's NO WAY that pack is authentic. You don't just throw that in.
...Of course the pack did not include a Gretzky. I will say that the cards look OK and weren't banged up.

I can remember in the late 80s when Upper Deck started with that 1989 baseball set(iconic Ken Griffey Jr rookie). There were some error cards that were quite expensive(name missing etc). Some people I knew were taking erasers and using them on the card to remove the name and then melting wax and applying it back on the card so it would have that glossy look. This was 35 years ago!! Lord knows what people do now...One can easily reseal a wax pack by melting wax and using a hot iron or something to make it look new(unopened).

I have full sets of 91 92 upper deck baseball... I havent checked in years but they were not worth much I'm sure not much has changed Pretty sure this is when cards were really popular so they aren't very rare.

late 80s-early 90s are 99.9% overprinted worthless junk(a few exceptions)...sadly, I don't think either of those sets are worth more than $50.

yeah I didn't think so. Maybe in another 30-40 years will be worth something for the kids.

I did have a Bobby Orr rookie card that was worth about $400 back around 20 years ago. Card was lost or stolen by someone through the years

Thanks for the advice JAKEPEAVY21 . My nephew's love ripping packs but soon as they get done w/ last pack they dip. Then im stuck w/clean up duty so I have to put em all away in binders, sleeve, toploader or box. I get on them about rip'n & run'n all the time (or chewing & screwing as my grandma would say to u if u went to visit & took off right after dinner)! I got few value boxes & hobby box for oldests bday yesterday & they opened em all b4 I got off wk but I'll be damned by time I got home every single card they had pulled was already put away in binder, sleeve or holder which absolutely shocked me & made my day. Well I guess they are actually listening at least 1 out of 10 times I say something!

I bought a 2024 Topps Update series box from Fanatics $24.99. It has 9 pks instead of 7. In the very last pack (9th) pulled a 1/1 magenta printing plate. It was my very first 1/1 after 30 yrs ripping packs.
