Shocking development, he had a mystery procedure a couple of months ago and he died this morning. The cause of death is being kept under wraps for now. RIP

I had the very same thought.
He comes from baseball royalty, his grandfather was Walter O'Malley, just a solid baseball dude.
Didn't he have a couple of recent cancer bouts?

#4This is a punch to the gut for Padre fans.
Seidler put his money where his mouth was and wanted to build a winner here. He was also a really lovely guy by all accounts. Condolences to his family and close friends.
This also begs the question, what happens now with the franchise? payroll? I read that he wanted ownership to stay in the family and hopefully that's the case but who knows what will shake out now.Comment -

You're absolutely right. you could feel the energy with the fans the past few years. People are a lot more passionate , they're more knowledgeable about the team, players, stats, potential trades, etc. Seidler changed baseball for San Diego.Comment -

If they trade Tatis or Kim, the fanbase will be irate. I could live with anyone else going.Comment -
