"I just felt like it was the right decision for the team," Stefanski told reporters on Wednesday. "Think PJ’s been here now for a month plus getting a better understanding of what we do, but just felt like it was the right decision for the team.”



Another key reason: the team is well aware of the situation Thompson-Robinson was put in for the past two weeks, according to a league source. The team ultimately decided that if Watson can't play on Sunday, they don't want to put Thompson-Robinson out against an extremely talented defense in two consecutive games.

Stefanski was also asked if the team will put two gameplans together: one for Watson, and one for Walker.
“I think that’s kind of – it’s our job every week, knowing who is available, who might be available, and put a plan together," Stefanski said. "You also have to be cognizant of the rest of the team, and sometimes if you have two or three game plans, that’s too much to ask of the entire team. But there are ways to do it, there’s ways to pivot both in-game and during the week.”



Walker has thrown for 1,461 yards and 5 touchdowns in his NFL career.



“I think with a veteran, he’s played in some games," Stefanski said. He’s won some games. Obviously, PJ is not 40, but he’s played in some games. He’s been around a little bit. He’s played in different systems. So, he’s getting comfortable with what we do here. He’s got a great demeanor, a great way about him. He fits in well with the team. But really just if PJ does end up playing, you’re just looking for him to be the best version of himself.”



It's still unclear if the Browns will sign or just elevate Walker to the 53-man roster for Sunday's game.

The Ravens and Browns offense were both very pedestrian but the Browns (the QB) gave the game away with the turnovers, just like Watson gave away the Stoolers game.

The defense did its job. The offense was/is a train wreck.

It’s crazy to think this guy could hold out and still get paid. Where is his incentive to succeed? Contracts should always include escalators.

I’m not sure this offense can score with Watson, Bitonio and Njoku all out. A lot of banged up guys on this team, including the only serviceable wr in Cooper. Defensive guys are hurt too. Versus a physical team like SF? Forget about it. The Browns had to play the Titans, Steelers and Ravens back to back to back. 3 very physical teams. Now SF. They most likely get beat down this weekend but they will also most likely get a beat down next week vs Indy. I don’t think teams that played SF the last year and a half have covered or won many games the week after playing SF.

I would feel better if they said 3 weeks ago that he would be out 3 to 4 weeks but when you say he's day to day, you expect him to be okay after the bye. I wonder if the way the Browns are putting information out on his injury if the league might say they are not being transparent?

I wasn’t saying come on man to you Eddy. I just cannot recall a guy being day to day for over 3 weeks. Especially after the medical staff cleared him and specifically said that there was no risk to further injury. This really seems normal to you? I’ve seen guys have setbacks in rehab. Watson never got that far. KS and now AB both sound very surprised of these developments.
