#36Yeah, there should always be some type of incentive to play. I'm really starting to think this is a power struggle between Watson and Kevin Stefanski. he probably did not like the game plan each week and told KS to either change it or he won't play. Or he didn't want to play vs the Ravens and 49ers defenses, with that shitty Oline.Comment -

One Q: How did Walker move ahead of DTR? DTR's showing last week was just that bad?
It's been referenced in this thread, but bares repeating. BROWNS will be +6.5 Home Dog, with a Defense that concedes < 200 ypg.
That has to be un-precedented. I hope Garrett goes crazy vs the Niners and shows Watson what it means to wear the Brown jersey.Where's the fuckin power box, Carol?Comment -

#39The Browns defense is pretty good but the Ravens wore them out. When you can't generate an offense and your defense is on the field 80% of the time, the dam will eventually break. Also, don't forget that several other Browns are banged up, including Myles.Originally posted by ChuckyTheGoatThat has to be un-precedented. Watson was listed on the pre-practice injury report as one of four players to not practice. The others were guard Joel Bitonio (knee), defensive end Myles Garrett (foot) and tight end David Njoku (face, hand).Comment -

#41"I just felt like it was the right decision for the team," Stefanski told reporters on Wednesday. "Think PJ’s been here now for a month plus getting a better understanding of what we do, but just felt like it was the right decision for the team.”Originally posted by ChuckyTheGoatOne Q: How did Walker move ahead of DTR? DTR's showing last week was just that bad?
Another key reason: the team is well aware of the situation Thompson-Robinson was put in for the past two weeks, according to a league source. The team ultimately decided that if Watson can't play on Sunday, they don't want to put Thompson-Robinson out against an extremely talented defense in two consecutive games.
Thompson-Robinson recorded 121 passing yards and three interceptions in the team's 28-3 loss to the Ravens in week four.
Stefanski was also asked if the team will put two gameplans together: one for Watson, and one for Walker.
“I think that’s kind of – it’s our job every week, knowing who is available, who might be available, and put a plan together," Stefanski said. "You also have to be cognizant of the rest of the team, and sometimes if you have two or three game plans, that’s too much to ask of the entire team. But there are ways to do it, there’s ways to pivot both in-game and during the week.”
Walker has thrown for 1,461 yards and 5 touchdowns in his NFL career.
“I think with a veteran, he’s played in some games," Stefanski said. He’s won some games. Obviously, PJ is not 40, but he’s played in some games. He’s been around a little bit. He’s played in different systems. So, he’s getting comfortable with what we do here. He’s got a great demeanor, a great way about him. He fits in well with the team. But really just if PJ does end up playing, you’re just looking for him to be the best version of himself.”
It's still unclear if the Browns will sign or just elevate Walker to the 53-man roster for Sunday's game.Comment -

#42You are correct. It was ~50/50 time of possession and the Browns had 10 more total downs. I should have said the defense was in a bind defending short fields with 3 interceptions. The Ravens and Browns offense were both very pedestrian but the Browns (the QB) gave the game away with the turnovers, just like Watson gave away the Stoolers game.Originally posted by asiagamblerBrowns had more time of possession than Ravens in that game

How about this for an angle? Garrett goes crazy on Sunday and lays down a marker for Def POY. Does it in front of reigning Def POY Nick Bosa.
I really don't mind the matchup of Garrett vs Trent Williams. Trent is heavy, I say that Garrett puts on a show. Third sack to wrap up the 12-10 win, and he flashes THE BELT toward Nick B.

#52I’m not sure this offense can score with Watson, Bitonio and Njoku all out. A lot of banged up guys on this team, including the only serviceable wr in Cooper. Defensive guys are hurt too. Versus a physical team like SF? Forget about it. The Browns had to play the Titans, Steelers and Ravens back to back to back. 3 very physical teams. Now SF. They most likely get beat down this weekend but they will also most likely get a beat down next week vs Indy. I don’t think teams that played SF the last year and a half have covered or won many games the week after playing SF.Originally posted by edawgBrowns at 7 or more is worth a look. #53There's no incentive for Watson to play. His money is guaranteed. The doctors cleared him vs the Ravens and he told Stefanski he was not good to go an hour before kickoff. Now, he's not practicing a week after a bye. The Browns are fukked if he decides not to play anymore. He could sabotage the team. If you force him to play, he could just start throwing interceptions. The reason I think he might be done with KS is that he injured the shoulder I think in the 2nd quarter. He looked okay throwing the ball after the fact. Either he's fukking KS or he just doesn't want to take the chance playing against the Ravens and 49ers.Originally posted by Eddy MunnyI dunno... It doesn't add up. There's no incentive for him to hold out. He's been paid far above his production, and if he didn't throw today then there's something to the injury angle. If everyone in the organization knows he's healthy and he simply doesn't play, then they can legally reclaim the money they're paying him to do just that.Comment -

#58There's more incentive for him to play than there is for him to not play. I won't bother citing reasons, they're more or less common sense. He's probably dealing with some kind of injury that won't be fully disclosed until the end of the season, or if/when he's shut down. He played well against the Titans, and the Browns are 2-2 in a division that is entirely up for grabs... only bad things can happen for deciding to sit and watch. He's not even practicing for pete's sake. If your theory that he's merely sticking it to Stefanski held water, then KS would have absolutely nothing to lose by putting DW on blast and publicly revealing his motives.
Not every injury is black and white either. People have finished games on torn ligaments before the extent of their injury was known. Some flare up after rest and linger. I'm not saying what he has because I don't know, but I'm not ruling out injury just because he played the whole Titans game.Comment -

#64Being cleared medically doesn't mean all symptoms have ceased and comfort has returned to 100%. Any lingering issue can inhibit one's effectiveness, especially at a position where accuracy and velocity on a ball are paramount. You can say "c'mon man" all you want... I think the notion that Watson is merely throwing a tantrum and refusing to eat his vegetables equally warrants a "c'mon man" response.Originally posted by Mac4LyfeThe Browns medical team cleared Watson.
