#72Honest question - If you took over a 1-11 team. How many players would you have kept? (let me remind you they're paying you $5.5M/yr).Originally posted by asiagamblerBasically he told all the players (and their scholarships) from last season's 1-11 team to take a hike and brought in 80+ players through the transfer portal
Last years team was hot garbage. He's tripled their success in just 3 games. Football is not some recreational, everyone gets a trophy bullshit. It's ALL about winning. Scholarships are not some hand out welfare.Comment -

#73Realistically, they are looking at least 5 losses upcoming. High expectations can really lead to a hard fall. Good for him to milk it for as long as he can. The chariot turns into a pumpkin this weekend.Originally posted by hehfestSo, not taking anything away from the Buffs because I do think Deon could turn that program around long-term into a contender, but this team is not on the same level as Washington, Wsh St., USC, UCLA, Utah, Oregon, Oregon State..............YET. Could they win and/or cover in some of those games? Sure. But, let's end the madness with them being on that level.Comment -

#74I'm surprised more people aren't talking about that penalty that basically crippled CSU's chances in that game... Didn't they go from a touchdown and a potential game-tying 2 point conversion to facing 3rd and goal from the fukking 20+ yard line? Those situations almost never work out for the offense. Too much ground to cover and you have the back of the end zone so you can't get loose deep.
And the penalty for "blindside" blocking was just a guy moving from one defender to the next, trying to free as much space as possible for his ball carrier... Hell it was more a chip block than any violent collision, which is what the penalty is actually trying to curtail.Comment -

#75I don’t know if it was right or wrong but I do know these are young people, better to cut them loose now and be honest with them over keeping them around. That’s how it works in business and in life. Why should either side waste their time and energy on a situation that probably ends poorly? Granted- maybe you save a few but they did need a culture shock. Deion wanted to go in a different direction and I’d imagine the kids were going to end up leaving anyway. Better to clean slate it and move on.Originally posted by asiagamblerBasically he told all the players (and their scholarships) from last season's 1-11 team to take a hike and brought in 80+ players through the transfer portalComment -

#79My father in law is a Texas hall of fame HS coach and he would have never sniffed it if he worried about hurting feelings. He had an open door policy that any player or parent could come talk to him about playing time and your role on the team. Most really did not want to hear the real answer. Especially the parents.Originally posted by asiagamblerI don't know. I'm not a college football coach so I don't really think about any of thatComment -

#83That literally has nothing to do with my post. I was referring to the penalty in double OT that negated a CSU touchdown and sent them back to 3rd and goal from western Nebraska. The game went so late I'm not sure most people were even awake when it happened.Originally posted by homie1975the cheapshot on travis hunter was blatant.

#85Is there a USC lookahead spread/total? If Oregon is -21/71, USC gotta be like -24/75? USC 59-31Comment -

the big difference here is that CU visits Eugene while U$C goes to Boulder.
if the U$C game was this week, i think the spread would be SC -17.5Comment -

#90Why hasn't Coach Prime gone out of his way to make Oregon week a "personal" affair?
Duck coach Lanning basically called CU irrelevant in July when asked about the Buffaloes looming defection to the BIG XII conference next season. That sure seems like something that could be used to rally the troops, right?
It's one thing to make it personal against inferior opponents and then come out looking like a triumphant hero in the end, but Deion knows running random smack this week will probably only result in getting duckwalked back to Boulder...
Silence is the name of the game this week. Shhhh...

#99Colorado sucks. Coach Prime knew he was in over his head when he started watching the Oregon tape. Their 3-0 start was mostly smoke and mirrors.
I guess we won't hear anymore chirping from the Buffs apologists who insisted on calling others "haters" for daring to suggest Colorado is overrated... Also won't hear anymore braggadocio about how much money they're going to make off the juicy lines from bettors who don't accord CU their due respect.Comment -
