    ...that's about to orbit Neptune,

Holy Mother of God that Severino is straight up rubbish.

In the 1980's teams hated to come to New York City and play ball, now teams just point at the schedule and laugh.

NYC should be ashamed of themselves.

Nashy, the Mets were basically forgotten about in the early '80s until Hernandez arrived. Straw/Gooden took off, and Carter was the final piece.
Where's the fuckin power box, Carol?

In the mid 80's there used to be a saying in NYC.
"Don Mattingly is the best first baseman in the American League but the second best first baseman in New York.

How many playoff appearances did the 1980s Yanks have after 81?

Laughable franchises for sure. Mets at least show some fight every now and then.

Nash the yanks were not good in the 80s. They had a couple of decent seasons in the middle of that decade but they had no pitching.

The Billy Martin hiring/firing series was a riot.

Whoa, my point was about the two first baseman in NY in the mid 80's, not the two baseball teams.

The Yankees missed the playoffs all together from '82 to '94.
That's a dozen years of bricks, I knew they sucked, I watched most of that crap for over a decade.

After '94, from 1995-2022 they've been to the playoffs 23 of 27 years, won five world titles, but none since 2009.
The Yankees need to tear it down, build around Judge, they will not be relevant for at least three years plus.
