I think you could safely say there are 16 really good teams in the playoffs and anyone one of them has a legit shot at the cup. There are another 4 or 6 that could win it if they didn't miss the playoffs. Then you have a few that are close but are rebuilding and/or retooling. They could be playoff contenders as early as next season. Only 3 or 4 bad teams out of 32. Not bad as far as parity goes.

Kraken are in for the first time. Penguins just fired everyone this morning. Calgary and Florida both dropped after last season's big trade but Calgary fell further losing 17 OT games. The most in the NHL. A handful of wins in OT and they would have made it.

Johnny Hockey didn't help get the Jacket's in the post season despite the huge contract but they held on to their young prospects of which they have several good ones. Vancouver fired their coach way too late but have 2 top 10 players in Miller and Pettersson, a great defenseman in Hughes while trading for Hronek from Detroit. A great pickup for the blue line and a RH shot, Hronek give the Canucks a solid D pairing and a star goalie Demko. Look for both those teams to make the post season next year.

Ducks have the best chance at getting Connor Bedard who averaged almost 2.5 points per game in the juniors. He's gonna be a game changer for who ever gets him. Biggest name since Mathews and McDavid. Hoping the lottery Gods shine on Vancouver in the draft.

So flip a coin as to who's gonna win each series in round one. There will be upsets. I am hoping Tampa beat the Leafs again as I correctly predicted guessed they would last season, not so sure this time round. Something in my gut tells me this year could be different for the Leafs.

Bunting seems to be the spark for that first line. When he gets pissed off, he's an unreal player. Picking up Schenn at the deadline on defense could make a huge impact because he records more hits than anyone over the last 2 or 3 seasons I believe. Come playoffs, you need that.

Vegas definitely flew under the radar this season. They have played really well down the stretch. I think their goaltending is the wildcard here. We will see soon enough.

If Quick had to play in net, Knights have no shot. Thompson was great and Brisbois is better than I thought. No money for me. I will go to some of their playoff games though.

At first I’m thinking that’s not low but then I saw NBA with Nets +600 and Hawks +650 and so that’s low. That’s crazy that the best record in NHL is only -340 to win first round series. I guess it’s indicative on the unpredictable NHL playoffs of the past.

Carolina looking like they might take it. I’m seeing a strong correlation to the outcome of these nhl playoffs to the least bet futures which would be a sad state for the nhl if there was manipulation going on.
