This cat, Sean Davis, went 2-0 yesterday. He’s picking FD today:

It’s amazing that FDU is back in the NCAA Tournament after winning just four games last season. The school made a coaching change, and Tobin Anderson brought in three transfers from his previous stop, Division II St. Thomas Aquinas. As a result, the Knights won 19 games and finished second in the NEC. Their tallest rotation player is 6-7, but they make up for it with a swarming defense that forces turnovers. Texas Southern went 14-20 this season (7-11 SWAC) but managed to win the conference tournament as a No. 8 seed. It is one of the worst offensive teams in the country, which makes for an interesting matchup considering FDU is ranked dead last nationally in adjusted defensive efficiency. Generally speaking, I prefer teams that had a solid regular season over ones who did poorly in a one-bid league and got on a mini-hot streak in the conference tourney. The pick: Fairleigh Dickinson.

However, he’s with us on NV:

Everyone talks about how Nevada lost its last three games and barely got into the field, but two of those losses were in overtime, and up to that point the Wolf Pack played very good basketball in a very good league. Nevada ranks at the top of the Mountain West in turnover percentage, offensive free-throw rate and defensive rebound percentage, so it has different ways it can win. The Wolf Pack are also fourth in the country in free-throw percentage at 79.1 percent, which is a problem considering the Sun Devils were 10th in the Pac-12 in defensive free-throw rate. Arizona State has been volatile and unpredictable this season. The Sun Devils were the worst 3-point shooting team in the Pac-12, so they depend on forcing turnovers to generate their offense and play at the tempo they like. Given the way Nevada takes care of the ball, that does not bode well for tonight. The pick: Nevada
