Does Purdue "deserve" a #1 seed in the dance?

In all reality with the transfer portal seeding doesn't really matter anymore. The teams that get hot will beat anyone. We will all see the bracket and say this team has the easiest way but there aren't many easy ones anymore. It is all about how you are playing at the end, UNC proved that last year. Once the tournament starts it doesn't matter if you have a #1 in front of the school name or an #9 seed. There are rarely easy games because even the so called "mid major" teams have players that can go off for 30 and many are old recruits from the old top teams. My two cents. Although you are right with Purdue. Feeding the 7 footers isn't the game anymore. If you don't have elite guards leading the way, you basically have nothing.

I think Purdue loses in the first weekend because teams will force them to win from the perimeter and that really isn't their strength. Edey is great but teams are going to find a way to slow him down by forcing someone else to beat them.

Houston and Purdue won't make it out the first two rounds. Guaranteed they will face teams that knock down 12+ triples. And both teams can't score

Honestly, though, there aren’t many teams playing like a #1, so they prolly get it by default. Houston the only team rolling but they don’t play anyone. Tennessee just lost to two unranked teams before beating Bama. And Bama has a couple bad losses this year, including a 24-pt loss a couple weeks ago to unranked OU. Houston and one of the PAC 12 teams are a lock. The others you can just pick out of a hat.

If there’s ever a year a 5 or 6 seed may win the NCAA tourney, this is it.

Has Purdue EVER done anything in the tournament ?

Going all the way back to Gene Keady, I can't ever remember them getting past the Sweet Sixteen. I remember they were the #1 overall seed once and almost lost to #16 Western Carolina

They’ve gotten to the sweet 16 a lot but can’t ever make it to final 4. Even last year I believe they were a 2 or 3 seed with the rest of their bracket wiped out early and lost to St Peters. They always underachieve. They should win big today though.

Yup. I don’t usually lay big money for a ML, but I did in this game because I thought it was as sure a lock for an under -1000 ML as you’ll ever get..

Agree. I mean in the last couplr weeks the were blown out at home to Indiana, got routed in the last 5 minutes by an unranked NW team, got killed by an unranked Maryland team, and lost at Indiana. Sorry Purdue fans but I will surely not be taking your team to go very far this year. All they really have is one player. You shut him down, you shut down Purdue.

Purdue has lost 4-of-6 now, and head to play a desperate Badgers team thursday nite in Madison. I see some still have Purdue as the last #1 seed, I am rooting for it. will fade Painter against the # in each game. Then again? if they get boat raced in WI this week?

It is the same Purdue as always. They always have a 9 footer, who is uncoordinated, surrounding a bunch of 3 point shooters. The Big 10 is dog shit this year which made them look better for most of the season. Painter is always good for an early exit from the dance because his team is Average Joes, like the last 15 years.
