Gambling is definitely a sin when it becomes a problem. The reason it is a sin is the love of money that ever one is chasing after when gambling. Having said that, it isn't go to keep you from going to heaven. Two most important commandments are to love the lord with all your heart, soul, and mind, and to love your neighbor as yourself.
