#14I broke even which is disappointing only because NFL is the one sport I am best at. Hopefully the Playoffs is where I do better just like in College football with bowl season for me.Comment -

#17This was a weird season for me. I started off really well in the first 5-6 weeks. Then had 4 awful weeks. Got things going again since then. Playoffs are my favorite time but wild card weekend I'm not really that excited about.Originally posted by d2betsI thought everyone won.

#19I had a very good NFL season so far. I didn't have a chance to bet on football until late October. 5 - 1 on my 6 posted plays here , including 2 Large wins on SF and Buffalo. Won our " family and friends " annual CBS Pool ( $50 / 32 entries). Bragging rights at all family get togethers is worth every pennyComment -

#24You picked against openers, closers, random times, what? The 10 shows just how important the # is. I imagine with optimal numbers you might have turned that into 139-131-5.Originally posted by klemopixxI picked the ENTIRE SEASON against the spread (see my post Klemo Picks The Entire Season) and I ended up going 131-132-10.Comment -

#28The more games you bet NFL, the worse you do. Glad World Cup helped breakup the desire to go crazy every Sunday. Looks like a losing Season anyway unless a very Strong Playoffs. Great Bettors are spot players with discipline.Comment -

#31Originally posted by Orbisonthat's a good exercise to do. have you done a full season before? It's interesting, but it's unrealistic if you want to win. The whole point is that even in a sport that you are good at, you have to pick spots and know what you know. People say bet the same amount on each game and I say that's not understanding profits and expected return, unless your model is high volume and small edges are built in to the model that in fact need volume/time, and math.Originally posted by d2betsYou picked against openers, closers, random times, what? #32You're probably right. This was just an exercise in seeing how accurate I am in picking the entire schedule instead of just choosing Best Bet's. I chose no earlier than Tuesday of Game Week through Saturday, mostly due to having a job and a life outside of gambling. If nothing struck me early I picked during the week. Optimal bet placement would surely have improved that record but it also goes the other way with taking an early line that gets flipped due to late scratches or waiting for a line that doesn't drop. I'm definitely doing it again next year. What I learned from the experience is that it took almost 4 weeks from the opener to catch onto trends and who was a legit team this year. As the season progressed the lines got much sharper though. I might include o/u in the equation next year. It's a great exercise in learning how to cap games in this era of endless information. Sometimes your gut feelings steer you in a bad direction.Originally posted by d2betsYou picked against openers, closers, random times, what? The 10 shows just how important the # is. #33Another thing I noticed is that when I used my Best Bets for real gambling I did worse 41-44. And that's with a late season comeback. I've found I'm better at picking two star games rather than five start bets, leading me to believe a lot of my Best Bets are skewed by gut feelings from past wagers.
On the positive side, checking NFL capping sites on a daily basis help get a feel as to how the game might go, especially with weather situations. I always check several just to see different viewpoints but ultimately the picks are yours.Comment
