Maradona never had the longevity of Messi. People always say Pele too. Pele was a bum after 30 yrs old. Messi won a world cup at 35 years old and at that age is still the undisputed best player in the world. He is the goat.

There are always fan grabs and attention whoring on all these concepts, which is why the modern culture is so dumb. The championships thing is classic simpleton thinking, as if all sorts of guys who were great but didn't have a team who won it all, somehow aren't "as good". NBA and NFL are the most classic of brainless fans with this tripe. Also, one of the things I've never understood is why guys who get injured get a break with all the "what ifs" - as if these adonises don't have a tradeoff of being so strong or so fast. Health is part of greatness, because when it comes down to it, like Herm said, "The most important ability is availability." That's one of the few things he got right.
