Stay on a smaller beachside hotel if you are the type to get out of the hotel and do stuff on the beach or around the area. If you like doing stuff in and around the hotel, I would go to the Yankee Clipper a little north of Hollywood beach in Ft. Lauderdale.
Hollywood beach is the better beach for daytime activities, so it all depends on your perspective and planned actions.

Yeah, the little hotels or motels on the beach are old buildings and the amenities aren't that opulent. If you're looking for that, The Diplomat is right on the beach and is about as modern a place as any.

Nice beach selection though. Next to South Beach, it is probably the best in South Florida.

Hollywood is a dump. South Beach has gone way downhill.

When locals go out for good nightlife, they go to Brickell.

If you want a nice beachy experience, stay in Lauderdale-By-The-Sea or Ft. Lauderdale (not downtown Ft. Lauderdale). right on A1A in Ft. Lauderdale.

I personally like the little hotels but I don't ask for much other than a place to pass out when I'm back down to my childhood stomping grounds.

If that's the case, villa europa (and the cheap hotels around) on Cleveland Street are my go to "passing out on old stomping grounds". They're as close as you can get to the beach and have air con, and also don't mind smoking a joint

I just got back from Miami Beach. It was fun, but very tourist trappy... they even charged money to use the water fountains.

About 10 years ago I went to Hollywood Beach. I don't remember where I stayed (maybe the marriot) but it was very close to Gulfstream Park. Especially if they're racing I recommend checking out the track and casino because the facility is beautiful.

Yes, true. The diplomat is just a 5 minute drive up A1A from Hollywood. Margaritaville is really cool though on hollywood beach. It's literally on the beach

Hard rock, any hotel is awesome at the hard rock!! I travel there 2 times a month in the winter. Don't have to leave the resort, amazing pools, restaurants, casino and amazing ass all day and night!! Hope you girl is hot and bi lol
