LOS ANGELES — On Tuesday, former Los Angeles Lakers great Kobe Bryant urged America's young adults to get out and vote in next week's national election.
"It's extremely important," Bryant said. "The discussion that [I] always have centers around, 'How do you educate the youth about the issues so that they have a clear perspective of what they're voting on?'"

In December 2014, Bryant made a political statement in support of Eric Garner, who died after being placed in a chokehold by a New York police officer. He and his Lakers teammates wore black-and-white T-shirts that read "I Can't Breathe" during pregame warm-ups.
"I think it would be a serious disservice to limit this to a race issue. It's a justice issue," Bryant told the Los Angeles Times in December 2014.
Several NBA stars have recently used their platforms to help influence voters.
Bryant stressed technology and education as the cornerstones.
"We have a democratic system. You can vote and choose what you want to support and what you don't want to support, but having the knowledge of understanding what you're voting for is the most important thing," Bryant said. I think I've voted by mail once, maybe twice in my life. It was a pain because of the verification. Plus you then have to figure out who the hell you're voting for, especially the local seats. It is not easier and actually more of a pain, versus just walking up and voting. This year in Harris country, there's probably at least 90 choices with different candidates and issues to vote on and you must select each one before you can move to the next. There is no option to bypass or vote by a particular party. I find it much easier voting in person. But that's in my community. If I was living in Atlanta Ga, Fulton or Dekalb county? Verification is probably not the right word. Let's say the process. To simplify. You have to request a mail in ballot by FIRST mailing the request to a specific address. It has to be within a certain time frame. It takes time to mail a letter, it cost money to buy a stamp. Then they mail you a ballot that you have to complete. It is often not very straight forward, so now you're trying to decipher is prop 52 going to cost you more money or is it going to save you more money. Is prop 73 going end up closing your neighborhood school or not. Woman avoids jail for voting dead mom’s ballot in Arizona

PHOENIX (AP) — A judge in Phoenix on Friday sentenced a woman o two years of felony probation, fines and community service for voting her dead mother’s ballot in Arizona in the 2020 general election.
But the judge rejected a prosecutor’s request that she serve at least 30 days in jail because she lied to investigators and demanded that they hold those committing voter fraud accountable.
The case against Tracey Kay McKee, 64, is one of just a handful of voter fraud cases from Arizona’s 2020 election that have led to charges, despite widespread belief among many supporters of former President Donald Trump that there was widespread voter fraud that led to his loss in Arizona and other battleground states.
McKee, who was from Phoenix suburb of Scottsdale but now lives in California, sobbed as she apologized to Maricopa County Superior Court Judge Margaret LaBianca before the judge handed down her sentence. McKee said that she was grieving over the loss of her mother and had no intent to impact the outcome of the election.
“Your Honor, I would like to apologize,” McKee told LaBianca. “I don’t want to make the excuse for my behavior. What I did was wrong and I’m prepared to accept the consequences handed down by the court.”
Both McKee and her mother, Mary Arendt, were registered Republicans, although she was not asked if she voted for Trump. Arendt died on Oct. 5, 2020, two days before early ballots were mailed to voters.
Assistant Attorney General Todd Lawson played a tape of McKee being interviewed by an investigator with his office where she said there was rampant voter fraud and denied that she had signed and returned her mother’s ballot.
“The only way to prevent voter fraud is to physically go in and punch a ballot,” McKee told the investigator. “I mean, voter fraud is going to be prevalent as long as there’s mail-in voting, for sure. I mean, there’s no way to ensure a fair election.
“And I don’t believe that this was a fair election,” she continued. “I do believe there was a lot of voter fraud.”

TMS - have you ever worked at an election site? I'm thinking not. The system is very well organized and easily verifiable in many states. Maybe you should volunteer one year. That way you can at least help the illiterates and be on the lookout for the voter dumps.
Just to remind you. Republicans did well in the last election. The only guy that lost was Trump. More people voted for Biden in that last election to vote Trump out. I know several people, staunch Republicans that didn't even care about the other elections. They went in the polling location, held their nose, voted for Biden and walked out.
