Like most of his big wagers, this one is tied to a mattress promotion for his Gallery Furniture store in Houston. He said on a recent VSiN appearance that business was booming.
"We had the biggest day in store history on Sunday, and then did 25% better on Monday," Mack said on VSiN. "We busted through the $75 million in liability, so we’re done taking bets on the mattresses right now. The customers are excited and they’re saying 'Go Astros.'"Comment -

Back in like 91, I was returning a rental car at Miami airport and was sitting in the Avis shuttle headed for the terminal. There was a case right next to my bag and no one was on the shuttle. I asked the lady if she knew who it belonged to and she did not. I turn the case into the front desk at Avis as I was headed on a plane to the Bahamas. That was a Thursday or Friday, I come back on Sunday to rent another car, I ask the lady at the front desk what ever happened with the case. She said a guy called frantically, came back to Avis about 45 minutes after I left it, came to the counter, opened it and there were stacks of 100 dollar bills. She watched him shuffle through the money and she said it probably was at least half a million. I told her, thank God, I didn't open it because it would have never made it back but it was probably best because she was sure he was a drug runner. Ironically, over half of all the drugs into the US was coming into Miami from the Bahamas back in those days. There was a shit load of money everywhere.
