Accuser says Spurs organization 'failed me,' Primo exposed self on multiple occasions

HOUSTON - A former San Antonio Spurs consulting psychologist and her attorney spoke with the media Thursday morning to discuss the allegations made by her and others against former Spurs player Josh Primo.

Houston attorney Tony Buzbee said a lawsuit has been filed in Bexar County against the San Antonio Spurs and Primo.
Buzbee said they tried to resolve this behind closed doors with the Spurs, but it did not work. He also said that himself and Dr. Hillary Cauthen have been threatened by lawyers in California due to the possibility of disclosing aspects of the sessions between Dr. Cauthen and Primo.The organization I worked for has failed me," she said in a written statement. Dr. Cauthen was hired as a clinical psychologist by the Spurs in April 2021. She was hired to assist players in enhancing performance and help them be better players, according to Buzbee. He said it was almost the very first session that Primo exposed his penis to her in December of 2021.
She asked for a meeting with Spurs GM Brian Wright in January 2022 and told him what had happened during her meeting with Primo. They requested that she continued, but Buzbee said Primo did this repeatedly.
Buzbee said that Burford allegedly said there would be an investigation and that Primo would be punished and action would be taken. But instead, Cauthen said that her access began to become restricted and was told to she could work from home.
Buzbee said that Dr. Cauthen insisted that Coach Gregg Popovich be informed about what was happening. The team allegedly said he was aware, but Buzbee said they didn't think that was true.
Before a trip to Las Vegas in July for summer league games, the Spurs organization told Dr. Cauthen that she didn't need to come even though she normally would. Buzbee then said that the Spurs told her that they lost trust in her and chose not to renew her contract in August.
Allegedly, Primo exposed himself again to others while in Vegas, according to Buzbee and once again in Minnesota the weekend before his release last week.
Buzbee said there will be a criminal complaint filed in Bexar County against Primo. They expect criminal charges for multiple counts of indecent exposure against Primo to come of it.
He also said he believes the Spurs organization leaked the story to the media, insisting it didn't come from them.
Buzbee said the lawsuit is not seeking monetary damages, it is seeking change.

He is now being victimized by his former team appointed sports psychologist, who is playing to ugly stereotypes and racially charged fears for her own financial benefit.In an act of betrayal against her young client, Dr. Cauthen, who is 40 years old, falsely claims Josh Primo exposed himself to her during the course of her numerous therapy sessions. Dr. Cauthen’s allegations are either a complete fabrication, a gross embellishment or utter fantasy. Josh Primo never intentionally exposed himself to her or anyone else and was not even aware that his private parts were visible outside of his workout shorts.What makes the allegations even less credible is that Dr. Cauthen never informed her patient of the purported exposure. Dr. Cauthen was Mr. Primo’s mental health support provider and confidant; a therapist who Mr. Primo trusted. She is much older than Mr. Primo, with many years of experience as a sports psychologist. It is baffling why she did not bother to tell her patient that his private parts were visible underneath his shorts.Josh Primo is at the beginning of a promising career and has been devastated by these false allegations and release by the Spurs. He is in the process seeking treatment to deal with the trauma inflicted on him by Dr. Cauthen’s misleading allegations, in addition to the previous trauma he suffered as a child. He looks forward to clearing his name and to moving forward with his NBA career.Primo, 19, was the No. 12 overall pick by the San Antonio Spurs in the 2021 NBA Draft. He averaged 5.9 points in his 54 career games for the Spurs, including 16 starts as a rookie.
"It is our hope that, in the long run, this decision will serve the best interest of both the organization and Joshua," Spurs CEO RC Buford said in a statement.

i read on ESPN that Primo did this at least 2 other times. Him and Watson must love whipping it out.
According to Buzbee, Primo was waived just days after he allegedly exposed himself to another woman during the Spurs' trip to Minnesota last week, when Primo was held out of San Antonio's loss. Buzbee said that Primo also allegedly committed indecent exposure in Las Vegas in July while there for the NBA's summer league.Comment
