As Bruce explained during his introductory news conference with North Texas reporters on Monday, there was “one box I needed to check off” before accepting the Rangers job. Bruce said his and Kim’s two adult sons were excited about the opportunity, but . . .

“Kim, I had to convince her a little bit,” Bruce Bochy said, smiling toward the front row of his news conference toward Kim, who smiled back.
