I didn't think it was over until the ninth inning with two outs when pena whiffed and went down in the count 0-2 (after a terrible call strike on an outside fastball a pitch before).... didn't see him recovering and getting that base hit..... glad he did, as it set up that epic f'n blast:

Only Bucky Dent, Joe Carter, and Kirk Gibson come to mind, and speaking of Gibson, I could have done without that 'double clutch' of his when he was trotting around the bases between first and second.

I suppose I'm still old school, when I was a kid when you scored a TD after crossing the goal line you hand the ball to the ref, and when you hit a HR, you just put your head down, ran around the bases at normal speed, round third, slap the third base coach's hand, and go back to your dugout.

alvarez usually a very cool character; seemed almost out of character with the bat flip.... then again, not since Gibson's blast has such a homer been hit in the post season.... no excuse, but I get it....

also, what I remember most about Gibson's h.r., which I rewatched (scully's full nine minute call) tonight, is that double clutched fist pump roundin' second.... I got that, too.... pretty epic....
