FanDuels transition into a scared book
For the leader in the US they are definitely just looking only to take dumb money. This book each week has begun to take off live lines on major sports games for long periods of times when they think they are going to take liability.
Example tonight is Georgia. They won’t put up a live moneyline. Just hanging a spread. DraftKings, Bookmaker, etc all putting up a line but these guys are being soft. Last year they would put up everything but now pulling every live line. This may be a sign to come because when they start doing this you wonder what the next steps are? Eliminating bets, limiting, kicking successful players, etc.?

Curious to hear others opinions. Thanks

Might be time to drop this book. If a book is going to pick and choose what it wants to do then as a player you are going to struggle to win more than arbitrary amounts. Even if you hit a streak, limiting games and options is going to put a cap on what you can earn. Why give a book your business if you can only win a certain amount and will hit a wall in terms of revenue growth?

Georgia wins and FanDuel didnt have to hand out any winning live bets on it. I hope you guys are taking note, if you bet at books that are going to pick and choose what games they allow you to take in major sports you arent going to win. Just limiting your sample size is going to make it tougher.
I'm not sure if some care on here because maybe they dont win often enough for it to matter or because they are degenerates but you should care

It is perfectly fine for a sportsbook to not offer every single thing. No casino offers every table game, nor every slot machine. Taking it off the board is far better than the other bullshit sportsbooks do: refusing to tell customers what the limits are, then rejecting bets.

I'll give a place credit if they say "We don't know so we're not going to offer it"; instead of the more common approach of "we don't know, so we're going to play games with anyone who tries to bet it".

My book was the opposite, I desperately wanted the line + points on Missouri, my book had ml but they banked on Georgia winning and Georgia ml was @1.22 most the match like even when other books had Georgia @1.70 + my book still had them so low there was no point betting it

Disagree. When i say offer certain things, i think football games on major broadcast networks should be offer at least at different intervals. And essentially they were playing games. They knew they would take a loss and so they held the live line off the board because Georgia was down. Had Georgia been winning I can guarantee you they would have hung -10,000 live on Georgia and tried to get people to put 50 bucks on Missouri ml.

This makes zero sense. If they knew they would take a loss on people betting Georgia, they would just set the line to offer the absolute worst price on them and then they would know they would earn a profit on everyone betting (even arbing) the Missouri side.

Yes agreed, but thats a short sighted view because its a model that is going to be followed by all US books if they start turning in profitable numbers. Then in time will offshore be around to offer that alternative?

Books already have a schedule of which games they will be offering live wagering long before the events even start. It all has to be set up and ready to go, it’s not like they just push some button and the numbers pop up. Without knowing for sure I would speculate that this book in particular only offers so many per week and chose not to on a game where one team was a 30 point favorite.

When gambling becomes mainstream in the US be sure they will put the themselves in position to only take money, especially the most commercial books like fd and dk.

I know that’s the way it works in Nevada, was in the business for years. Could the regulations be different in other states? Maybe I guess, but you can’t just throw shit up on the board willy nilly in Nevada.

Something is definitely going on. I play fantasy on there and they suspended my account for some technicality from about a year ago. It got cleared it up, but why now? Seems they are tightening the ship.

I would love to take over for them. Basically risk free money with at least double the juice of a sportsbook.
