#2I remember watching this guy in college at San Diego State. What a leg! I'm wondering how far he can kick a ball when he has the wind behind him from Lake Erie this fall! (Like in that New England game last year.)Comment -

#11He has not been charged yet from the sounds of it. Civil suit was recently filed which is why this is coming to light now. DA is presently reviewing the case for purposes of filing criminal charges. Being that it was investigated by police the week after it happen and there seems to be evidence that it happen, including Ariana's own admission, it is curious why no criminal charges were filed back then last year. Either way, I imagine his NFL career is toast.Comment -

Content warning: This story contains details about alleged sexual assault. The content may be difficult to read and emotionally upsetting.
Buffalo Bills rookie punter Matt Araiza and two former San Diego State teammates have been accused of gang-raping a 17-year-old high school student last year, a civil suit filed Thursday in California alleges. Araiza, Zavier Leonard and Pa’a Ewaliko are accused of rape, false imprisonment and gender-violence crimes stemming from a Halloween party at Araiza’s residence on Oct. 17, 2021.
According to the suit filed by attorney Dan Gilleon, the plaintiff, referred to as Jane Doe, was “inebriated” when she arrived and given more alcohol by Araiza, who was 21 at the time, before he ordered her to perform oral sex on him in a side yard. The lawsuit alleges that Araiza had sex with her outside before taking her inside to a bedroom where Leonard and Ewaliko were waiting. They all took turns sexually assaulting her for about 90 minutes as she went in and out of consciousness, the lawsuit alleges.
The lawsuit claims Doe went to the San Diego Police Department the next day, and that a police investigation involved detectives coaching her through supervised conversations with Araiza and includes direct quotes from Araiza advising her to be examined for a sexually transmitted disease.
“This was a horrific crime, the kind of which happens all too often,” Gilleon said in a statement. “What makes these crimes different is not only that they were committed by self-entitled athletes. Just as awful as the crimes, for months, multiple organizations — SDSU, the San Diego Police Department, the San Diego District Attorney, and now the Buffalo Bills — have acted the part of enablers looking the other way in denial that my client deserves justice even if the defendants are prized athletes.”
The police investigation into Araiza, Leonard and Ewaliko is still ongoing. An attempt by The Athletic to reach Araiza’s attorney Thursday was not immediately returned.
A source told The Athletic the Bills were not aware of the allegations before they drafted Araiza but were informed of a possible civil lawsuit last month. In a statement Thursday night, the Bills said: “We were recently made aware of a civil complaint involving Matt from October 2021. Due to the serious nature of the complaint, we conducted a thorough examination of this matter. As this is an ongoing civil case, we will have no other comment at this point.”
Three days before the filing was made, Araiza, Buffalo’s sixth-round draft pick in 2022, won the punting job when the team released veteran incumbent Matt Haack. Haack has since signed with the Colts.
Araiza traveled Thursday with the Bills to their final preseason game against the Carolina Panthers and is expected to play Friday night.

Now, I don't know a thing about this case. Araiza could be totally innocent. These are just allegations, so I'm not saying he's guilty. But the NFL and it's hypocrisy should be called out. Ironic that Aaron Donald tried to bash cinci players with 2 helmets and the NFL/ESPiN is trying to sweep that under the rug too.Comment -

#33They are saying this case is different from Watson because the alleged incident occurred prior to his entry into the NFL so the NFL Personal Conduct Policy does not apply. We'll see what happens. It appears the physical evident may be a bit scant to file criminal charges. However, being that he was 21 at the time and she was 17, I would have thought a statutory rape charge may be possible which would narrow the evidentiary requirements, but who knows.Comment -

#35The NFL cares. He's not black, so most likely a smack on the wrist for violent rape accusations. ESPNs woke reporters are saying nothing on this. They all said Watson was a serial predator, not once looking at the porn videos several of his accusers were part of or them moonlighting as escorts and hookers. That did not fit their narrative. 2 Grand Juries didn't find any evidence. Sue Robinson and the NFL said there was no evidence of sexual assault but Watson got 11 games and millions in fines.
Now, I don't know a thing about this case. Araiza could be totally innocent. These are just allegations, so I'm not saying he's guilty. But the NFL and it's hypocrisy should be called out. Ironic that Aaron Donald tried to bash cinci players with 2 helmets and the NFL/ESPiN is trying to sweep that under the rug too.
Turned an already firestorm into a raging towering inferno.
Obama sent Holder to Ferguson looking for more, Holder reported back to Obama and told him "there's nothing there, hands up, don't shoot never happened"
