As Bob Costas once stated "He was like listening to music" when calling a game. He could put you into the ballpark with his voice, the color and story telling. Just listening him to when the pitcher started from the stretch was priceless. " A look at the runner on 1st, looks back toward home, and the 6'4'' 220 pound right hander is into the set and delivers!" He added so much to radio, not to mention t.v.

I remember being 12 -15 and every dodger game i went too after the game was over i would stand below the booth and yell out Vin Vin and he would always look over the awning and ask my name and yell down did you have fun tonight and talk and wave.My dad would always yell at me to go to sleep in April May and June on a school night i would hide under my sheets with a little transistor radio from radio shack am only and listened to the game even if it went to extra innings. Those days were awsome Ktla channel 11 790 kabc,Vin,Jerry Dogut and Ross Porter those days were the best!RIP Vin.

I remember Vin would always stress, "Farmer John made with only the freshest Eastern corn fed pork."

                Classic.

We have to enjoy Bob Uecker while he's still active - 52 years calling Brewer games! 88 years young & still quite sharp!

No, but it would have been cool to do a "Weekend At Bernie's" thing with Kershaw and Fernando dragging him around the bases.

...clutching a Farmer John's sausage sandwich.

(I mean no disrespect, just thought I'd interject a little lame humor here, he was in reality a giant amongst men)

He retired in 2016. Maybe that's what you're thinking of.
