Yup if he brought more attention to himself by hiring body guards, it would have been made him way more noticeable + a bigger target.

On the other hand, by trying to not draw attention to himself and not having body guards, it made him more vulnerable.

Damned if you do, damned if you don't unfortunately. Given how many people were involved in the conspiracy to pull this off, hard to imagine they wouldn't have succeeded no matter what he had done.

Costa Rica not Third World. Not even Second World, maybe 1-½ World. I'd rate CR somewhere between Uruguay & Portugal, higher than anything Mexico thru Colombia or Caribbean.

Security & police in Third World will sell you out & gradually squeeze you dry from both ends.

My guess is he gambled himself by picking and choosing who to payout by who was likely to give it back and more. Just a guess though I could be way off base with my guess but nobody w/that Reputation could've been fair and honest 100% of the time.

He paid out everyone fairly that I know of.

Yea idk about that. I drove thru that entire country pretty much and 90% were tiny little shanty towns with mb a shitty store or two with an imperial sign on it. Mb a dirt soccer field next to a decrepit school. Definitely not first world. Closer to 3 than 1 imo

That was my thought too when I read the article. He wears casual clothes and doesn't keep security to keep up the appearance of an every man......but he drives a Porsche.

Sounds to me like he was just cheap.
