Video shows how he helped many Houston residents get thru Hurricane Harvey.

Wonder if Mac knows JJ Watt. JJ Watt should be Mayor of HOU after his humanitarian efforts.

He is an incredible man. I belong to their country club. He used to bring in all the top tennis stars to Houston. He is a sports junkie and loves his state of Texas. He loves poker as well.

Of course he knows Watt. Now, I don't want to downplay Watts efforts during Harvey but I don't think any of the money he brought in was his actual money. He asked for people to help and they did. A valiant effort for sure. Mack gives and gives out of his own pocket. He also gives of his belongings. The guy is truly a saint.

                    He’s quite a character.

Good fade gambling. I don’t remember him ever hitting any of his monster bets.

Glad he’s done some good for the community

One thing I hate in life is how things are always marked up... and you get zero quality... I hate buying furniture.

At least you know you can go to this guy's place... and get a good deal. And he actually gives a sh## to earn your business.

Good question. Car salesmen make pretty good Commission. Can't be nearly that much on furniture.

The insurance cost on Car inventory has to be a bitch. I think Furniture might actually be a better business.

Have an acquaintance of mine that's been selling new cars since 18 years old. He's 43 now. The guy has so many leads and follow up customers... he averages (on the low end) a new car sold 1 a day. Absolutely amazing if you think about it. He asked for a raise and the dealership refused to give it to him. He finally left after all those years... now sells car/life insurance and makes more money. Blows my mind. I think dealerships can be stingy to sales reps.

Makes sense, Shot. Car dealership probably figured that he made more than enough on Commission. Why give him a raise on top of it?

As for insurance sales, yes, can be a great racket. Insurance execs drive sharp cars, without fail. Have to view insurance as Compulsory vs Optional.

Mandated to buy Auto Insurance. As for Life Insurance, I'd argue that it's MOSTLY over-bought. Life Insurance is a great product for the INSURANCE COMPANY. You only pay out ONCE...and most people over-estimate their probability of death (in the near future).

Imagine getting a down payment and then annual payments. You invest that money at a decent interest rate. Then, you pay out the Face Value 40, 50 years down the road. No problem.

How does it work with the sales tax and gambling winnings taxes?

Is he placing the bets as an individual but the refunds are issued by the furniture company?

So if he has to refund does the state keep the sales tax and if he wins his hedge after paying taxes for the winnings how does he transfer the winnings back to the furniture company?

Looks like a tax fraud scheme to me.
