They do not check your groin for guns. You could have a big metal waist belt on holding up your pants and a gun tucked in and they may just wave the metal detector wand over that and brush it all off. It's easy to bring in a gun to the Hollywood Bowl. You can bring in a back pack that they check over also but your pack could have a hidden compartment and smuggle a gun in no problem.

Dave is lucky he didn't get blasted by a real gun.
