WTF. Only 80 pitches in and he gets pulled.

80 pitches and a 6 run lead. Probably too early in the season to make him push 100. Or maybe he's just getting too old for 100.

I think a perfect game you got to let the guy go. How many more pitches could he have thrown? A no hitter you can yank him because the pitch count could get ridiculous

                    Has that ever happened before?

A pitcher getting pulled through 7 or more perfect innings?

There hasn’t been one in almost ten years.

You get laid slightly more often than that and make 25 threads about it when you do.

Yes, no-no's aren't terribly rare but perfectos are.

I know there’s that side to it but if it continues to be a perfect game the extra pitches would likely be minimal and 20-30 pitches is about what they throw warming up. Once in a lifetime opportunity.

Exactly. The pitch count was never going to get up there as long as the perfect game was going.

I found 314 no hitters FWIW although they have changed what’s a no hitter or not over the years.

If this was a no hitter, then I think pulling him is ok given the situation and due to the fact he has one.

a professional athlete can't throw a ball 100 times in a game without risking permanent damage? but he can throw it 80? what a bunch of pussies men have become... no wonder so many men get vasectomies or change their gender

guy used to throw 80 pitches, have a couple beers between innings, and throw another 50 pitches
