I dont know how it got on my you tube but there is someone that is posting videos claiming fixed race at this track and after watching some of these videos there pretty convincing that it might be.I dont really know i think these riders are just bad today even the so called best like the Ortiz brothers 20 years ago they would be 5% at any major track.Comment -
Not at all. The horse was running all out. The rider was riding all out. He showed the horse the stick vigorously twice and did everything but hit him.
That tells me the horse sulks from being hit which slows it's momentum and he was probably under instructions to show the whip but not hit the horse.
He was doing everything he could to win short of hitting the horse.
Like I said, some horses are like that. I had more than a few that you just could not hit.
By the way, the winner gutted it out. No quit in that one either.
Solid effort from both riders and horses.

I do think no hitting with the stick fully in hand will eventually happen but it will take a while IMO. What I mean is, when the riders are early in the race the stick is turned down or the wrong way. Like if you grabbed a baseball bat the wrong way with the barrel down. They should be allowed to ride like that where they can tap the horse on the shoulder and remind the horse to stay focused which is a tap not a strike. They need to spin the stick holding it the other way to “ hit” the horse. Again, like spinning the baseball bat in your hand so it is barrel up instead of down.
Sometimes the whip is a safety net for a rider whose horse has mentally lost focus. That is very true. Jocks will argue no whip can’t happen or bad and potentially dangerous things can quickly follow. And I get that.
So that’s my take.
And as I’ve always said, the whip is good for about 3 strikes anyway, once or twice quick on one side and once on the other side after they switch sticks.
What screws things up are these Jocks that just pound away. It’s pointless in several ways. And Often times detrimental as well .
